TEST DRIVE MEME

So first of all, welcome to Dyspros' very first test drive meme! We're happy that you're interested in the game, and we hope that you have some fun playing with the setting, regardless of whether you decide to join or not.

As a general reminder, we recommend that you look over the game information before jumping in. In addition, if you decide you're ready to join, you're welcome to put in a reserve, and applications will open on May 4th at 12:01 AM (EST). Finally, if you have any questions or concerns, please send us a message!

So now, without further ado, let's get to playing:

A ; NEW RECRUIT
Well then, welcome to the guild, Initiate! After some thought (or maybe the choice was obvious), you've finally settled on a guild, and you're ready to get started. You're welcome to check out your accommodations and see what kind of people you'll be living with for the foreseeable future. This is your home now, so hopefully you get alone with them. If not, then you can just spend all of your time sharpening your skills!

Whether you're just claiming your bed or you're jumping right into the thick of things to practice or sign up for a mission, a new recruit is unlikely to go unnoticed.
B ; MISSION TIME
It's your first mission, which is pretty exciting, right? You have all these pictures in your head of going off to fight a dragon, to come home with great riches and valor...

Too bad those missions are for the higher ups.

No, it's the middle of the night, and you're out guarding the small fields just outside of town from wild animals. Right now you're standing by the cucumbers, which are considered especially important to guard, for some reason. You have to fight off sleepiness somehow, so maybe an animal will come out for you to scare off, or maybe you'll just end up chatting with whoever is stuck doing this with you.

Or you know, if you're a dick, you'll steal the vegetables for yourself.
C ; STORM THE CASTLE
Okay, the missions for initiates are pretty lame, and you're ready for some real fighting. You can go alone, or you can go with some other people, but it's off to Castle Dyspros! You'll find a variety of creatures to fight, and the power of teamwork will help you make progress through the castle!

Or you'll die. There's that too. Good thing it's fairly inconsequential, if weird!

Either way, have fun fighting to your heart's content!

[A barrier of less than moderate strength had been cast around the garden. All those that stepped into it would alert themselves to their presence. An elemental spirit or two wanders in not so plain sight. There was no intruder that would dare besmirch the agricultural field. A bespectacled mage sits by a wooden post, his head facing upwards and covered by a book. Stacks of tomes are piled all around him. As of late, consciousness has become frightfully dull.

He could almost understand what Mystina feels like.]

Heh... Though I'm not one for repeating myself, it would seem that my goals must begin anew. How burdensome, but no matter.

[Lezard raises his arms into the air as if welcoming an embrace with a heavenly being.]

All I do, I do for you, my love. These are my profoundest sentiments that will no doubt beckon you once more to this world. Even if this game should go ad nauseum, so long as I draw breath, I will never cease.

[The mage continues his trek into the corridors and then stops again.]

Be a dear and rid my presence of these incoming monsters. They irk me.

[So... Someone might be stepping into that garden to take a cucumber, or maybe two. Try not to judge him too harshly! He lost his nerve when trying to join a guild, and this is what he's been reduced to... Stealing produce in the dead of night.

Only enough to get by though, so it's okay, right??]

[Listen closely and Madao may listen to mutterings from the supposedly asleep guard. But they're just night ramblings, so he can still continue with stealing cucumbers, right? Maybe open up a roll shop and sell cucumber rolls exclusively? Yeah. What a nice idea.]

It shall be engraved upon thy very soul; Lezard Valeth. If ye shall accept the brand of Hel upon thee, thy sanctions...

[HOW DID YOU KNOW?! The only way to bypass the intimidating guilds is to sell cucumber rolls to the fine people of this city!

But wow, that sleep talk is getting a little heavy over there. He must be really into his dream! It would definitely be okay to grab a few more and stuff them in his pockets. Seriously, it should be fine, so he's doing it.]

[A light purple flame glows brightly behind Hasegawa. His shadow extends far as if attempting to preserve the darkness of the night, but with futility. Behind Hasegawa, a large, skeletal dragon with a humanoid frame stands with a sword held in one hand.]

Dragon Tooth Warrior. A little much for patrol duty, I know, but I can't tell you how frightfully bored I am. So go on, then. Will you scream? Or will you proceed to wetting your trousers?

[Removing the book from over his head, Lezard places it at his side and glances over at his two new friends.]

[He stops his pilfering when he notices that weird light. Slowly, he turns, and when he sees what it is there behind him, he drops his cucumber. He's shaking, and frozen in fear, until he hears the pants wetting comment!]

H-hey! Wait a minute! You're going to accuse me of that before you even get to know me?! You brought something like this, straight from the depths of Hell, and you have to throw in some insults too?!

It sounds as if the expression you're looking for is "adding insult to injury".

[Lezard stands up and shakes his head, giving a shrug and a smile.]

And I detect a total lack of wound on your body, forgetting about that terminal malfunction of your mind. Unless, of course, you're asking me to give you one. My mission actually advises me to do so even without asking.

[Perhaps that beckoning will occur a little sooner rather than later... Not that she looks as thankful and blessed for the opportunity as he seems! If there's one thing good about Lezard Valeth, it's that the man oftentimes makes his presence known.

She uses that to her advantage -- without really meaning at first, she was here to begin with -- to stay far away, watching him from behind whatever wall or pillar or other obstruction she's stopped near when she first heard the familiar voice. And the Valkyrie-turned-ranger just stares.

There's not a lot else she can do at the moment.]

[Lezard's associates from his and other guilds run off to fight monsters on his behest. While not usually the type to hire mercenaries, it just seemed prudent to use them in this world. Lezard pushes the bridge of his glasses and gives a smile.]

I never believed you to be a peeping Tammy, Valkyrie, but I'm afraid the sensation of bathing in your radiance is something I would never soon forget.

[His cape flutters in the air as he turns in the direction of the Valkyrie.]

We are united once again.

[Just as expected as the bravado that accompanies him, so too is the man's perceptiveness. She should have been expecting this. Since she was, she takes a few steps forward easily and comes into open view, her arms resting relaxed at her sides and no perceived threat obvious on her face.]

... Lezard Valeth. I find it questionable what sort of power would summon a person like yourself here, though I suppose there are many unexplained mysteries in this place. For which goal do you currently work?

[Lezard faced upwards at the ceiling all the while still smiling. He places a hand in his pocket.]

They say that at the peak of this castle is a god able to grant wishes. While it is a juvenile rumor, I haven't got much to work with and most of the arcane texts in the academic guild's library lead back here. So here I am, doing a little investigative work, striving laboriously once again to bridge the two of us closer together.

I would say most find themselves pursuing the same such rumor. Your purpose, however, is short-sighted.

[As always. Her lips frown a little. Her brows furrow the smallest amount, before relaxing.]

People have died pursuing less.

[He steps closer to the Valkyrie.]
