TEST DRIVE MEME

So first of all, welcome to Dyspros' very first test drive meme! We're happy that you're interested in the game, and we hope that you have some fun playing with the setting, regardless of whether you decide to join or not.

As a general reminder, we recommend that you look over the game information before jumping in. In addition, if you decide you're ready to join, you're welcome to put in a reserve, and applications will open on May 4th at 12:01 AM (EST). Finally, if you have any questions or concerns, please send us a message!

So now, without further ado, let's get to playing:

A ; NEW RECRUIT
Well then, welcome to the guild, Initiate! After some thought (or maybe the choice was obvious), you've finally settled on a guild, and you're ready to get started. You're welcome to check out your accommodations and see what kind of people you'll be living with for the foreseeable future. This is your home now, so hopefully you get alone with them. If not, then you can just spend all of your time sharpening your skills!

Whether you're just claiming your bed or you're jumping right into the thick of things to practice or sign up for a mission, a new recruit is unlikely to go unnoticed.
B ; MISSION TIME
It's your first mission, which is pretty exciting, right? You have all these pictures in your head of going off to fight a dragon, to come home with great riches and valor...

Too bad those missions are for the higher ups.

No, it's the middle of the night, and you're out guarding the small fields just outside of town from wild animals. Right now you're standing by the cucumbers, which are considered especially important to guard, for some reason. You have to fight off sleepiness somehow, so maybe an animal will come out for you to scare off, or maybe you'll just end up chatting with whoever is stuck doing this with you.

Or you know, if you're a dick, you'll steal the vegetables for yourself.
C ; STORM THE CASTLE
Okay, the missions for initiates are pretty lame, and you're ready for some real fighting. You can go alone, or you can go with some other people, but it's off to Castle Dyspros! You'll find a variety of creatures to fight, and the power of teamwork will help you make progress through the castle!

Or you'll die. There's that too. Good thing it's fairly inconsequential, if weird!

Either way, have fun fighting to your heart's content!

[ As a proud member of the Lancer's guild, Gwendolyn is the fighter of the pair, and has been standing at alert since they arrived. Even though it's a simple mission, it seems like she's taking it quite seriously... She's been considering criticizing her partner for not keeping the same level of diligence, but at the rustling, she shifts her spear slightly in her hand, though she knows it's unlikely that she'll actually use it. ]

Indeed. Shall we go check together, or do you wish to stay here?

[ Aoi had just been getting settling in against some tree, arms folded behind his head. He shoots Ali a squint, himself, though his eyes have adjusted to the dark by now. ]

This isn't my first all-nighter on the job. [ Truthfully, he would appreciate being allowed to sleep in exchange for switching shifts. He was tired! But he had to show a degree of professionalism around his partner. ] Besides, you look like you could have a friendly face. I'd fall asleep around you any day, if I got the chance.

[ He grins teasingly... Oh wait, was that gay? Aoi wouldn't know, because guys back home don't take teasing as flirting. ] And I think you're smarter than that. It'd be kind of obvious who the culprit was if I were killed tonight.

[ well, yeah, he was thinking it was something like that... but without all the flouncy extras. but this is coming from a guy who has probably never owned more than 3 pairs of pants at any one time. speaking of which, their differences are really, really obvious when he's looking at her pouting like a little kid and then at the tower of cucumbers she'd occupied herself by building.

if he didn't think he was being tested, this babysitting job wouldn't last long. he raises an eyebrow as he glances between Seiko and her tower. ]

Uh-huh...

[ as perplexing as it is, he doesn't actually care. if there were really anything to handle, he was prepared to take care of it. but he might as well use this to his advantage. ]

Playing around on the job, huh? That's not going to score you points either. Maybe I should report you.

It's probably a rabbit or something like that. It's going to be hard fishing around for it in the dark. Let me get something to help. [ Getting up to his feet, he tosses the stick aside to adjust the cuffs on his arms. He gives her a bit of a toothy smile as he walks past, reaching into his pocket for a box of matches. ] Think you can spear me down a branch up there?

[ He points up high at the tree! He's planning to make a makeshift... torch. He figures the spear came in handy despite how unnecessary it is.

(Unless she kills the rabbit GODDAMN?!) ]

[ In comparison to Dio's whimsy, Gwendolyn is serious and stoic, and has been standing alert nearby with her spear leaning on her shoulder more casually, but her hands never leave it. She's diligent with looking over the field, though even she would admit to herself that this was hardly the most exciting mission to have...

Though as her partner suddenly sits up, she looks to the sky too, and for the first time that night, smiles. ]

'Tis a beautiful thing. Though... [ She hesitates, since she's not really one for idle conversation, but continues out of politeness, ] 'Tis also strange, to see the sky so still. For a shooting star to be so rare, it feels odd. Perhaps it is an sign of good luck to come for you.

[ alright, so he's still up, but he was looking like he was about to nod off there any second. to be honest, he doesn't have a single problem with that. if something happened, maybe he could take all the credit for himself. generally speaking, he's not a guy who "works well with others."

and it may not sound like he's flirting to him but it sure makes him laugh. had he just proved what an idiot he was in 10 seconds flat or was he imagining things here? people were too trusting. he grins, expression gaining menace. ]

We're here to guard the crops from wandering animals, right? Who's to say that a big, bad wolf didn't rip your throat out while you were catching some Zs?

[ are there wolves here? he doesn't even stop to consider it. in any case, he's lightening back up a little. ]

Don't worry. Just keep your eyes open.

Certainly.

[ Though she does think to herself that it's lucky that even without its power, her Psypher will not dull. For a normal spear, she would probably refuse...

She walks closer to the tree and extends the spear up, giving a quick twist of it in her hands, slicing off a branch. She's not going to do something flashy like catch it midair, so she just picks it up off the ground. ]

Will this do?

... Hm?

[Looking up at him with just the trace of a small smile still on her lips, Irisviel halts drawing her own pictures -- she was drawing some pretty majestic winter wolves (to eat his cats?)!!! -- into the dirt and gives him her full attention. There's a tiny laugh of excitement hidden in her voice when she speaks; wow, is she actually hoping there's going to be some kind of trouble?]

Ah, maybe it's some animals!

[ Wow, this guy was MEAN!!! But Aoi doesn't take it to heart, though, instead squaring his shoulders as a show of how alert he is. He folds his hands in his lap, having to keep from laughing aloud since this guy was ribbing him pretty hard. He'd be impressed if he could actually make a murder look like some kind of bear mauling.

He reminded him of a certain someone, only with a sense of humour. He was a bit of a nag, wasn't he? He couldn't be too surprised, since it wasn't often you came across someone who was willing to work with the team and expect not to be dragged down. People weren't trusting enough. ]

Alright, you win. I'm not going to fall asleep. You could have just asked nicely instead of creeping me out.

[ Aoi is a 1930's gentleman, and since this girl has proven herself to be less of a fighter and more of an artist, he'll offer: ]

Do you want me to check it out while you stay here? I'd hate to interrupt you while you're busy. [ HYPOCRITE! ]

[And she returns that friendly smile easily.]

I would think it's obvious how new all of us are, isn't it?

Yeah! That should work. Let's see... [ He wanders over to the blanket he brought just in case it got cold.

He's rich, okay. He's high maintenance in some ways.

He works on ripping it apart to slice it down to the correct size. ] We just need some rope, now. [ RIIIIP. ]

[ this is a pretty boring situation. if he'd just kept on standing here and watching and waiting, he might be tempted to sleep, too. it's not physically hard for him, with all his experiences in war under his belt, but that didn't mean he wouldn't be bored enough to. given that, he's just trying to have a little fun here. get under his skin.

once it becomes apparent that he's already won, he turns and stretches his arms out above his head with a groan. ]

Yeah, well, asking nicely doesn't make for a very interesting night.

[ it never really did. ]

[She is a summoner, thank you very much!

Iri hops up onto her feet almost immediately. That stick and her beautiful pictures are long forgotten... as is Aoi's blatant hypocrisy.]

Thank you, but that won't be necessary. I've been dying for some excitement! I'll join you.

[ come on, it's not that obvious. there's plenty of natives around here, too. he backs down quick in his attempt to seem friendly. ]

Oops, I guess you're right. What do you think of the place so far?

[They've ranked up enough for this or something...

It's not like Jisoo didn't believe him, but seeing the lavish interior makes him scoff, arms crossed as he stands near a large glossy wardrobe. The room is certainly an upgrade from his own living space.]

What is this, favoritism?

[ Getting under his skin is gay. But it's not like he's going to unless he starts talking about terrorist philosophy. Aoi is a pretty strong-opinionated pacifist despite working for the military back home, himself.

Anyway, he yawns, getting up to his feet and scratching at his head. If this guy was going to be a nag, he might as well make this worthwhile for him. ]

Well, if we're going to stay up and make this interesting, did you want to do some reconnaissance? Or would that leave you the opportunity to lead me into a dark cranny of the woods?

I can't guarantee that we're going to find anything exciting. Here -- [ He offers his hand for her to hold. ] It's dark out, and there's a chance we might trip over our feet.

[ She rests the spear casually on her shoulder again, walking after him to essentially watch, though she's surprised to see him tearing up his blanket! The lancers definitely aren't rich LMFAO ]

That's quite generous of you. Thank you for giving it up.

[ Even though if it is a rabbit, it'll probably run away from that alone... Whatever, at least they'll have something more than starlight. ]

Still conscious, though at the bare minimum.

[colress himself was just barely suppressing a yawn when his partner speaks up, leaning back from his side of the fence to stretch out joints that have been inactive for a bit too long. arceus knows how long it's been since they were assigned the mission, though he can obviously tell it's been Quite some time: the dark sky shows that it has been a couple of hours since the assignment (the urge to check his pocket watch for specifics is smothered near instantly-- he did not want to upset himself further). alas, they still have an entire night of standing around only hoping for some action, and this has the normally energetic colress in a pretty bad mood.

the slump in his posture obviously shows his apparent boredom and foul attitude. he straightens up soon enough, though, gesturing somewhere towards his left.]

Some critter I couldn't recognize had come a little close, but it was nothing a two-second catapult couldn't rectify.

[if you saw him throw a rock somewhere towards the east-southeast, that was the reason why.]

[ A bit of laughter manages to rear its ugly head in his breath as he talks, making his sympathy seem totally ingenuine. ]

It seems like it. But I had no choice in the matter, okay? If I did, I'd offer to share with someone less fortunate.

[ He gives a pointed look almost, not realizing how fucking douchey he sounds. ] Like I said, it's a bit much. I'd trade a better view for the bed.

[ That's a lie. ]

Hahah, it's just a rag anyway. [ He works on wrapping it around the very tip of the stick, making a ball of some sorts and manages to find a way to use it as its own tie/knot. ] Want to give me another hand? [ He offers the box of matches, holding the branch up high. ]

[ now they're even. hit or miss though, he's not all that concerned. really he just doesn't want to stand out here all night doing nothing. he's mad enough that he got assigned to a shitty job like this, so why do it by the book?

he's laughing shortly as he crosses the distance between them. ]

Didn't I tell you it would be fine as long as you keep your eyes open? Come on, hotshot, take some initiative.

[dang, no wonder this guy's a level 99 paladin knight (he looks like he'd be one-- check out those muscles!), he's pretty serious! even though this mission was super dumb at first, seiko is kind of glad she took it on, now's her chance to exercise her feminine charms. maybe he can help her during a dungeon crawl!

cue the cheek-clutching and the wiggling and the squirming.]

Nooooo--! Don't report me! I'm not at a super high level like you are, yet! I'm still just a little newbie!

[she looks up at ali from beneath her big long lashes, huge pink eyes glittering with helplessness as actual bubbles and sparkles form around her. she is just that cute.]

If I promise not to slack off anymore, you won't say anything, right? Seiko is a good girl...most of the time. ♥

[haha that was totally cute there's no way he won't go for it]

Ha. If you need a better view, just go outside.

[At this point he's figured out the guy has some spoiled douchey moments, however well meaning, but Jisoo doesn't usually let it side.]

Or do you hole up in here to read dusty books and never come out? [He walks over and starts opening drawers because he's nosy.]
