TEST DRIVE MEME

So first of all, welcome to Dyspros' very first test drive meme! We're happy that you're interested in the game, and we hope that you have some fun playing with the setting, regardless of whether you decide to join or not.

As a general reminder, we recommend that you look over the game information before jumping in. In addition, if you decide you're ready to join, you're welcome to put in a reserve, and applications will open on May 4th at 12:01 AM (EST). Finally, if you have any questions or concerns, please send us a message!

So now, without further ado, let's get to playing:

A ; NEW RECRUIT

Well then, welcome to the guild, Initiate! After some thought (or maybe the choice was obvious), you've finally settled on a guild, and you're ready to get started. You're welcome to check out your accommodations and see what kind of people you'll be living with for the foreseeable future. This is your home now, so hopefully you get alone with them. If not, then you can just spend all of your time sharpening your skills!

Whether you're just claiming your bed or you're jumping right into the thick of things to practice or sign up for a mission, a new recruit is unlikely to go unnoticed.

B ; MISSION TIME

It's your first mission, which is pretty exciting, right? You have all these pictures in your head of going off to fight a dragon, to come home with great riches and valor...

Too bad those missions are for the higher ups.

No, it's the middle of the night, and you're out guarding the small fields just outside of town from wild animals. Right now you're standing by the cucumbers, which are considered especially important to guard, for some reason. You have to fight off sleepiness somehow, so maybe an animal will come out for you to scare off, or maybe you'll just end up chatting with whoever is stuck doing this with you.

Or you know, if you're a dick, you'll steal the vegetables for yourself.

C ; STORM THE CASTLE

Okay, the missions for initiates are pretty lame, and you're ready for some real fighting. You can go alone, or you can go with some other people, but it's off to Castle Dyspros! You'll find a variety of creatures to fight, and the power of teamwork will help you make progress through the castle!

Or you'll die. There's that too. Good thing it's fairly inconsequential, if weird!

Either way, have fun fighting to your heart's content!

[ And he'll be lurking around The Spider & Herb, Sidel doesn't look all too impressed. If not, he looks... jaded. ]

What is this supposed to be...? It's like part fifties apartment building and part witch crap shack. [ Despite how he seems to be critical about the arrangements, he'll go ahead and hog the bed... or a chair... Anything just to sit and stare into the abyss. ]

Here it looked pretty from the outside. [ Exasperated siiigh. ]

Hey, you with the weird haircut. Come over here. [ This call is also complemented with a hand gesture--well more like his finger gesturing the subject to come closer. Either way, you find yourself being called by this random guy here in Ironwall.

What could he possibly want with you anyway? Also... Is your haircut really that weird?! Doesn't he understand you're trying to window shop because you're poor as hell!? ]

W-what? My haircut's not weird!

[ It is... weird... by modern standards. Despite how offended she looks, she follows him anyway. Because she's Kougyoku and no responsible adults are here to keep her in check. ]

[needlecraft]

[ He wasn't referring to her, but Sidel squints as she comes over. Those... Loops.

That hair color. ]

Is that a wig...? [ He actually meant to ask something important that related to the classes and items, but he ends up saying that instead. It doesn't look like he's going to take any of that back. ]

[ Kougyoku steps back and sputters. She is legitimately offended. ]

I've never heard anything more ridiculous in my entire life! ...Does it truly look fake to you? It's not, I swear it!

It doesn't look fake, but... The color. [ NO OFFENSE OR ANYTHING, PRINCESS. While she steps back, Sidel only steps forward to investigate her hair.

Maybe even reaching over to gently hold a couple of strands. ]

[ It takes her a while to react.

She swipes his hand away! ]

Don't touch a woman's hair, you-! What do you want?

It's soft. [ Not even going to reply to that since he got it touch it! Can't tell him what to do, shorty. ]

What do you think of that? [ And he'll point to what seems to be god tier armor...




That lacks amour in the first place. ] Think you can work it?

[ rude so rude sidel she is telling on you! but at the same time, she's taken aback by his comment. that was a compliment, right? but he was saying her hair was fake a while ago! she holds her cheeks in her hands until he asks his next question... which is just as shocking. ]

I-I would never wear something so—! Well, I have, but not of my own accord...

[ that sounded suspicious, didn't it? kougyoku attempts to distract him from that! ]

Did you catch my attention to ask me these questions? This is just plain harassment!

[ Dude, don't even go there; his haircut is perfect. Maybe "blond and beautiful" should be bedazzled on his shirt, kind of like how biffles wear those "I'm with Stupid!" tees, only his real best friend in this equation is Dave's golden locks.

Anyway he notices this other dude calling out to him (who's got the weird haircut now, huh) and approaches, speaking first. ]

So. What makes you think I'm interested in what you're selling.

[needlecraft]

[ Doesn't that imply that the shirt should be bedazzled with "I'm with Stupid Hair!"...

And your haircut is weird, bro. You know why? You turned and thought he was referring to you!! TOTALLY. Otherwise, he blinks a couple of times. He has a serious question here, but-- ]

Aren't you a little too young to be outside?

[ Some silence. ]

Without an adult?

[beat]

[ Dave doesn't immediately respond because he's too busy giving this guy the most deadpan of all deadpans one with shades can ever hope to achieve. ]

I'm 16, you egg.

[ ... ]

If they can make reality shows about knocked up kids my age documenting their emotional trauma, I think I can go window shopping without holding Mommy's hand.

But those kids actually look their age? You kind of look... [ Give him a moment as he looks Dave up and down. It's kind of hard to say! Let him put a number on you anyway-- ]

Well, twelve. [ Okay, he's exaggerating, but might as well. ]

I think it's the shades.

[ shiro had been peeking here and there into shop windows in interest, like she'd never even seen a shop before. she's leaning this way. that way. sparkling at... something that probably doesn't even warrant sparkling at all. how focused she must've been, because she jumps a bit at being referred to, looking left, right, left, right.

. . . . . . . . . . . does he mean her? but--well, ok, her haircut is weird. she knows that (now). but still. she doesn't know how to handle this. ]

Terra, I did it again... [ leaning back from her position of becoming one with the glass. ] Did I bother you? Was I too close? Did I break something? Do you want money? I'm sorry, I... I'm broken!

[ she means broke. ]

No... You didn't do anything wrong. [ His arm is going to slowly fall to his side now as he looks over to her. She does have weird hair... Then again, wings are a big thing, aren't they? Sidel remembers several fashion designers airing their ~Angel~ line... Feathers and wings everywhere.

... Still weird. His eyes narrow as he watches her try to be one with this glass. ]

Hey... Can I ask you a question?

[ She sees his hand gesture, but she doesn't move from where she is. She pauses to consider her own hair for a moment, which is... not very common for modern standards. Or this world--at least from what she's seen so far. ]

Don't you mean hairstyle as opposed to haircut? [ Still not budging there. Nope. But she makes her voice loud enough for him to hear. ]

[ At first he doesn't reply because he's scoping the area. Sorry, shrimp, he can't even see you. It only takes him a couple of seconds longer before he notices that she's... Tiny, so he has to adjust his viewpoint. ]

Nah. Are you telling me that isn't a dye, Christmas tree? [ Though he's kind of used to odd colors, it was more of a trend than anything in the city. Crazy hair color wasn't exactly too natural. His hand falls to his side, actually going to rest on his hip. ]

[ HOW RUDE--she's not even that short. Go check your eyesight, four-eyes. Chloe looks at him put his hand on his hip and thinks about what to say after. Her hair isn't really real as in she doesn't grow hair out of her head for reasons... but it's not a wig either. ]

[ and another blink to process her next line of dialogue-- ]

I hope you aren't expecting help from people that you insult right off the bat.

I don't remember insulting anyone. [ Weird doesn't mean bad after aaaall! And Christmas Trees are pretty, feel flattered, Chloe. Otherwise, he's giving her an incredulous look.

... She seems familiar, but nothing seems to ring a bell at all. ]

I only wanted an opinion anyway.

[ She's not going to have this argument on perspectives, so she'll just dive into the last thing he brings up. ]

That. [ HE POINTS TO THE MOST EXOTIC OF OUTFITS that is supposed to be god tier armor or something.

And the price.



Look at all those numbers. ]

[ Chloe stares at the strange outfit and then looks down at all those numbers on the price tag.

Well then.

She blinks and then looks back up at him. ]

Did you want it? [ a pause. ] It would look weird on you.

[ He looks in front of him with the deadest eyes... And slowly turns to her and it's like he

sees right past her.

NO THAT ISN'T THE QUESTION is what is expressed when his eyebrows furrow. ]

[ By that kind of reaction, Chloe starts with stating the obvious. ]

Fashion is subjective from person to person from region to region.

[ But wait... she's not sure what to say next. Uh...

Her face looks blank as she's trying to think though. ]
