TEST DRIVE MEME

So first of all, welcome to Dyspros' very first test drive meme! We're happy that you're interested in the game, and we hope that you have some fun playing with the setting, regardless of whether you decide to join or not.

As a general reminder, we recommend that you look over the game information before jumping in. In addition, if you decide you're ready to join, you're welcome to put in a reserve, and applications will open on May 4th at 12:01 AM (EST). Finally, if you have any questions or concerns, please send us a message!

So now, without further ado, let's get to playing:

A ; NEW RECRUIT
Well then, welcome to the guild, Initiate! After some thought (or maybe the choice was obvious), you've finally settled on a guild, and you're ready to get started. You're welcome to check out your accommodations and see what kind of people you'll be living with for the foreseeable future. This is your home now, so hopefully you get alone with them. If not, then you can just spend all of your time sharpening your skills!

Whether you're just claiming your bed or you're jumping right into the thick of things to practice or sign up for a mission, a new recruit is unlikely to go unnoticed.
B ; MISSION TIME
It's your first mission, which is pretty exciting, right? You have all these pictures in your head of going off to fight a dragon, to come home with great riches and valor...

Too bad those missions are for the higher ups.

No, it's the middle of the night, and you're out guarding the small fields just outside of town from wild animals. Right now you're standing by the cucumbers, which are considered especially important to guard, for some reason. You have to fight off sleepiness somehow, so maybe an animal will come out for you to scare off, or maybe you'll just end up chatting with whoever is stuck doing this with you.

Or you know, if you're a dick, you'll steal the vegetables for yourself.
C ; STORM THE CASTLE
Okay, the missions for initiates are pretty lame, and you're ready for some real fighting. You can go alone, or you can go with some other people, but it's off to Castle Dyspros! You'll find a variety of creatures to fight, and the power of teamwork will help you make progress through the castle!

Or you'll die. There's that too. Good thing it's fairly inconsequential, if weird!

Either way, have fun fighting to your heart's content!

[Every corner and floorboard seemed alien to him, but that only gave Latvia more incentive to look. If this was going to be his living quarters (he wouldn't dare use the word home) then he might as well get used to it. Latvia wandered through the halls, hoping he would be able to retrace his steps later. Out of the corner of his eye he noticed a strange light seeping out from one of the doors. Quietly he tip-toed up to the door and pressed his ear to the natural wood to see if he could hear anything.

Naturally the moment he put his weight on it the door swung open, causing him to fall flat on his face. No sooner had he hit the floor he scrambled back onto his hands and knees]

[Latvia had a lot of regrets, and most of them involved not listening when the voice in his head told him it was a stupid idea. Sure, lets go to the castle, let's not care about the monsters that will crush you and gut you when you don't have any way to defend yourself.

Even though he had the help of his companions it didn't make him feel safe. Sure he was meant to be back-up but suddenly it felt like all the knowledge had gone out of his head. Latvia was capable when he had the confidence but right know, quivering behind his much larger, armored team-mate he could really use a pep-talk]

[It had been simple to ignore the sound of passing footsteps as she played with her necklace. The gem was finer than anything she'd owned before and magical of all things. Lost in thought, she didn't notice the door move until a pile of person was flat in her doorway.

She skittered backwards on her bed, reaching for her purse automatically before he apologizes]

Oh--Um--It's alright?

[The fact that it sounded more like a question than forgiveness gave him the impression that it really wasn't alright after all. He got back up to his feet and straightened out his clothes before bowing his head]

I really can't apologise enough!

[As he lifted his gaze he noticed the finely crafted necklace in her hands]

That's really pretty...

[She shakes her head, then waves a hand. It doesn't matter really, she should pay more attention to things like that. Her smile is reassuring now, these things happen after all.] It's alright. You just startled me honestly. I suppose I didn't close the door all the way.

And isn't it? They had me pick something to be enchanted. The gem is the important part--I think. But it's very pretty. Wearing it all the time will be a joy, don't you think?

[Latvia relaxes a little, now that he can sense that she doesn't seem angry]

You probably did close it properly, I'm just a klutz.

Oh! Those things...

[From the front of his clothes he unpins a small broach with a similar gem]

They gave me one too, but I still think yours is nicer.

[She covers a giggle with her hand] I think mine just wouldn't suit you though. That's quite pretty itself.

Ah, thank-you.

[Latvia blushes a little. Whoever she was she really was pretty]

Yours suits you really well though!

Um... my name is Latvia, by the way.

I'm Koharu Izaki. [She bows her head quickly and beams] Thank you. It was just a random choice.

Really? I think you must have a good eye then.

It's nice to meet you Koharu. Oh! Or would you prefer to be called Izaki?

[He still had trouble working out which name was which and which one was more polite when it came to Japanese names]

Ah well--[He's not Japanese so she's not sure...] Is Latvia your surname?

[He just shakes his head]

Well... even though my full name is the Republic of Latvia I wouldn't consider it a last name.

Okay so like, we're all totally clear on the plan and whatever rig-- [Poland stops abruptly, noticing Latvia's shaking.]

Latvia, oh my god, please tell me you're not crying.

I am not!

[He takes a step back, offended at Poland's (completely accurate, yes there were tears in his eyes) accusations. He wipes his eyes, trying his best to make it subtle]

Adn yeah, I'm clear on the plan...

You so are!

There's no crying in the plan!

There was no sassing in the plan either but that doesn't stop you...

[Poland somehow refrains from giving into the urge to call Latvia a baby, and instead pulls him aside.]

What's your deal? Are you like, scared or something?

No way!

[Of course he was, the shaking was obvious]

I just... haven't been out on a mission before.

Not here maybe, but it's not like you were totally useless in mission-y stuff back home.

I mean you were kinda useless, but not as useless as everyone probably thought you'd be.
