TEST DRIVE MEME

So first of all, welcome to Dyspros' very first test drive meme! We're happy that you're interested in the game, and we hope that you have some fun playing with the setting, regardless of whether you decide to join or not.

As a general reminder, we recommend that you look over the game information before jumping in. In addition, if you decide you're ready to join, you're welcome to put in a reserve, and applications will open on May 4th at 12:01 AM (EST). Finally, if you have any questions or concerns, please send us a message!

So now, without further ado, let's get to playing:

A ; NEW RECRUIT

Well then, welcome to the guild, Initiate! After some thought (or maybe the choice was obvious), you've finally settled on a guild, and you're ready to get started. You're welcome to check out your accommodations and see what kind of people you'll be living with for the foreseeable future. This is your home now, so hopefully you get alone with them. If not, then you can just spend all of your time sharpening your skills!

Whether you're just claiming your bed or you're jumping right into the thick of things to practice or sign up for a mission, a new recruit is unlikely to go unnoticed.

B ; MISSION TIME

It's your first mission, which is pretty exciting, right? You have all these pictures in your head of going off to fight a dragon, to come home with great riches and valor...

Too bad those missions are for the higher ups.

No, it's the middle of the night, and you're out guarding the small fields just outside of town from wild animals. Right now you're standing by the cucumbers, which are considered especially important to guard, for some reason. You have to fight off sleepiness somehow, so maybe an animal will come out for you to scare off, or maybe you'll just end up chatting with whoever is stuck doing this with you.

Or you know, if you're a dick, you'll steal the vegetables for yourself.

C ; STORM THE CASTLE

Okay, the missions for initiates are pretty lame, and you're ready for some real fighting. You can go alone, or you can go with some other people, but it's off to Castle Dyspros! You'll find a variety of creatures to fight, and the power of teamwork will help you make progress through the castle!

Or you'll die. There's that too. Good thing it's fairly inconsequential, if weird!

Either way, have fun fighting to your heart's content!

[Asami nods back at the veggie field.]

Cucumber watch. It's been part of my punishment for that thing that I did... [AHERMHERM] What about you?

[ he slips the basket into the crook of his right arm — the one with the burnt hand — and skuffs the fingers of his left through his hair tiredly, then jabs his thumb over his shoulder in the direction he came from. ]

You know the big house that's kind of shaped like a triangle? The old lady living there wanted to know if her house spirit was happy with where she was putting her furniture.

[ ... as he was moving it for her. the things he does for money

(the mages guild apparently gets this request every few years or so, when she wants to change her layout. mako got the job simply because he is the only one in the guild who can bench press a number anywhere near his own weight.

ugh ]

[Asami snorts wryly with a subtle roll of her eyes. She still can't believe it sometimes. This is their life now. It's too bizarre sometimes to even be considered archaic, even as far as odd jobs go.]

And was her house spirit happy?

[ he shrugs, scarf moving with his shoulders, trying not to dwell on the bitterness that hangs over him like mid summer smog. ]

Was by the end. And she threw these [ shakes the basket of still-delicious smelling tarts with a slight jiggle of his elbow. ] in with my fee, so...

[ food is food!!??? ]

[And her sights have been flickering on and off of them.

Now that the initial excitement of spotting a friend has worn off, the dead of night has become apparent again and she wouldn't be surprised if Mako were ready to go to bed. Get back, see Korra.

She'll take the chance of asking him to hang out for a little bit anyway, though, because she's all alone and waving him off will leave her wondering what they could have talked about. They should talk more. Probably.]

So... would you like to join me here for a little bit? I could help you out with those pastries.

[ asami's right — he would like to get back to the guild and see korra for a makeout session or smth a bit before he goes to bed, but! asami did ask, and she is out here all by herself, and he is trying to be a good friend and, while he could totally finish off this entire basket by himself easily, he also already knows he comes second in this kind of thing. mako's still adjusting from the "i want you to be happy but you also need to listen to me because i need to take care of you" default attitude he's had for... a long time, with his brother and his friends, really. old habits die hard, and he wants to make a good effort as much as he wants the people he cares about to be happy, and that means learning that it's not always a matter of street survival. i should stop talking.

the only indicator of any of that ^ is the briefest glance in the direction of the mages guild, before he offers another smile. HE WANTS TO BE HELPFUL AND GOOD!!! DO A GOOD JOB at all the things!!! ]

Yeah, sure.

[ of couse, just because he wants to be helpful and a good friend!!! and all of the things, does not mean he's... less of a dumb when it comes to talking.
