TEST DRIVE MEME

So first of all, welcome to Dyspros' very first test drive meme! We're happy that you're interested in the game, and we hope that you have some fun playing with the setting, regardless of whether you decide to join or not.

As a general reminder, we recommend that you look over the game information before jumping in. In addition, if you decide you're ready to join, you're welcome to put in a reserve, and applications will open on May 4th at 12:01 AM (EST). Finally, if you have any questions or concerns, please send us a message!

So now, without further ado, let's get to playing:

A ; NEW RECRUIT

Well then, welcome to the guild, Initiate! After some thought (or maybe the choice was obvious), you've finally settled on a guild, and you're ready to get started. You're welcome to check out your accommodations and see what kind of people you'll be living with for the foreseeable future. This is your home now, so hopefully you get alone with them. If not, then you can just spend all of your time sharpening your skills!

Whether you're just claiming your bed or you're jumping right into the thick of things to practice or sign up for a mission, a new recruit is unlikely to go unnoticed.

B ; MISSION TIME

It's your first mission, which is pretty exciting, right? You have all these pictures in your head of going off to fight a dragon, to come home with great riches and valor...

Too bad those missions are for the higher ups.

No, it's the middle of the night, and you're out guarding the small fields just outside of town from wild animals. Right now you're standing by the cucumbers, which are considered especially important to guard, for some reason. You have to fight off sleepiness somehow, so maybe an animal will come out for you to scare off, or maybe you'll just end up chatting with whoever is stuck doing this with you.

Or you know, if you're a dick, you'll steal the vegetables for yourself.

C ; STORM THE CASTLE

Okay, the missions for initiates are pretty lame, and you're ready for some real fighting. You can go alone, or you can go with some other people, but it's off to Castle Dyspros! You'll find a variety of creatures to fight, and the power of teamwork will help you make progress through the castle!

Or you'll die. There's that too. Good thing it's fairly inconsequential, if weird!

Either way, have fun fighting to your heart's content!

[ It has been a month since her arrival in Goldvale, and although the number of friends the shy princess has can only be counted on one hand, Kougyoku is more than capable of taking down the monsters inside the castle with her sword.

But for some reason, she dragged you, a stranger, along... ]

Pardon, but, um, I've been meaning to ask this. Are you a spellcaster?

[ Kougyoku is in front of the Disciple's Guild, pacing about, wondering if she can enter. After a while, however, she decides to hide by the entrance and ambush anyone who looks friendly enough to ask: ]

Um, excuse me! ... I've heard of a region in the far east... Do you know anything of it?

[ Unfortunately Kougyoku has received +1 paladin instead, who's looking even grumpier than ever at that question. ]

Shouldn't you have asked that before you dragged me along?! [ kougyoku...... ]

[peachbaths]

[ Just her luck!!! ]

Ooh, [ She hides behind her sleeves, ashamed of her mistake. ] I did not know how to say it. Forgive me...

[hisname]

[ Where's Leo to punch him when he needs him!! Elliot looks less annoyed though, mollified by her apology and the knowledge that he shouldn't be a jerk... ]

Just remember for next time. [ sigh the tsundere life ] Anyway, what do you need a spellcaster for?

[ Kougyoku's just glad he isn't shouting at her! ]

I wanted to try something. [ She flourishes her weapon. ] I could enchant my sword with water in my world, but I cannot do it in this one.

[ She's a punisher, though. A punisher that doesn't know Spellsword... ]

I would like to be able to do it again. There are other ways to become stronger—but this reminds me of home.

You were a fighter back home? [ the 'BUT YOU'RE A GIRL' part is so obvious even if he doesn't say it out loud. Even though he's seen a number of kick-ass girls here but still?? It's hard to get used to the idea. ]

Yes! I don't mean to brag, but I am one of the strongest warriors in the empire.

[ She doesn't mean to brag, but Kougyoku flips her hair. You're so old-fashioned Elliot gosh. ]

Though it appears that I will have to relearn some skills...

[ didn't she just brag?! He takes a moment to look her up and down, Kougyoku... ]

Really .....Aren't you a little short to be one of the strongest? [ she's the exact same height as Oz okay, he's getting shorty flashbacks ]

Height doesn't have anything to do with strength! [ RUDE, ELLIOT. She does the angry stomping dance.

Which ends up stirring some monsters awake. Not that Kougyoku's noticed! ]

[unfortunately Kon is probably not the friendly person she just ambushed, thanks to his unkempt hair and messy scholar robes everything about him screams delinquent... but the question interests him long enough for him to push himself into this conversation yeaaah]

Far east? What's the name of it?

[ oh no now she's scared uhhhh HIDES BEHIND HER SLEEVES ]

I don't know... But I was just wondering, if it is, um, anything similar to the Kou Empire.

[Oh, she's covering her face with her sleeves....... what a shy personality]

It shouldn't be too hard to find a map. Never heard of the Kou Empire before though. Is that where you're from?

[peachbaths]

[ But then she'd have to talk to the guy who sells maps. ]

Never heard—? [ Kougyoku lowers her hands and looks at him in disbelief until she remembers that he might be from another world. ] Yes. It is a large country in the Eastern Continent.

[ And judging from her robes, she might as well be talking about China. ]

There is a land here that sounds similar... But I would like to know if they are one and the same.

[the clothes do help narrow it down, it's like she's from some ancient dynasty]

There's a good chance that they might be, actually. [considering that the entire city reminds him of Europe, who knows.] You don't seem like the type who likes asking around though, so you might want to visit a library instead.

[ But reading is boring! Kougyoku sulks at his suggestion. As much as she is terrified of asking others, she wants to talk to people. ]

Th-thank you. I see... So I am truly so inept at talking to others that even strangers notice.

[ She is so ashamed!!! Unfortunately, her attendant isn't here to save her from embarrassing herself and do damage control. Instead, Kon gets a crying Kougyoku.

She is literally crying. ]

[OH NO kougyoku DON'T CRY!! Kon looks alarmed for a second there, because now it suspiciously looks like he bullied her or something uh oh]

[for some strange reason he suddenly feels pity for her!!]

O-Oy, there's no reason to cry about it. [how does one stop a crying girl from crying where's toki and his sweet talking ways when you need him!!] You tried, didn't you? I think that says a lot.

[ YEAH people always feel pity for her for some reason... a day in the life of a crybaby princess.

She rubs her eyes as Kon tries to talk some sense into her. ]

You really think so? You are too kind, sir...

[ She looks at Kougyoku for a moment before looking at her hand that was holding hers in order to drag her along. Then Chloe looks at the sword that's tied to a wire that has also... been dragged along. ]

You could have asked first. [ But she doesn't look annoyed or anything. In fact, she looks like she's pondering something instead. ]

Maybe I should be that one instead... somehow.

[peachbaths]

Oh-! You're not? [ Kougyoku covers her mouth. What an embarrassing mistake! She should have noticed the sword on the wire—

Actually, what is it doing there... ]

I'm sorry. Um... What sort of magic would you like to use, if I may ask?

[ Chloe thinks this transition is a little strange, but she rolls with it. Can't hurt to reply, after all. And perhaps saying it out loud would help her organize her thoughts. ]

Electricity sounds good, since I'm familiar with it... [ and a quick blink to process her next line of dialogue-- ]

But it's not like I can change it, right?

[ She works on reeling the wires into neat loops around her hand so that the sword doesn't trail too far off. ] I don't know how to use a sword though.

[ If that hasn't been... evident. ]

[ Kougyoku's never worked with electricity before, so that sounds good to her. But how this girl isn't a mage right now is worrying.

Kougyoku slides her sword back in its sheath as she speaks to her. ]

I don't understand. If you are skilled at commanding electricity, why did you choose to fight with a sword?

[ Chloe stays silent as if she's trying to figure out how to word what she wants to say. She looks down at the wire, then at the sword, then back at Kougyoku. ]

I thought it would have been an interesting addition to my life resume.

[ She says this with a straight face, deadpan tone of voice, with no sense of mocking behind it. The worst part is, she looks so serious about it. ]

[peachbaths]

Don't tell me that after we've come this far! [ She's doing the angry stomping dance CHLOEEEEEEEE ]

[ Kougyoku places her hands on Chloe's shoulders and begins pushing her toward the exit's general direction. She's not mad at Chloe — she's mad at how awful she is at this. This sword thing. ]

We're going back! We're going back, okay? I can't let you fight until you know how to use a sword properly!

[ex_amain424]

[ She's being pushed along, but it's not like Chloe is fighting against it either. This is a change that she welcomes, and besides-- ]

Does that mean you'll teach me?

[ A small pause. ]

Flinging it worked so well though... [ As in throwing the sword with the wire tied on the handle. But even Chloe knows it's not that efficient and that it should be in her best interest if she was taught to actually use it correctly. ]
