TEST DRIVE MEME

So first of all, welcome to Dyspros' very first test drive meme! We're happy that you're interested in the game, and we hope that you have some fun playing with the setting, regardless of whether you decide to join or not.

As a general reminder, we recommend that you look over the game information before jumping in. In addition, if you decide you're ready to join, you're welcome to put in a reserve, and applications will open on May 4th at 12:01 AM (EST). Finally, if you have any questions or concerns, please send us a message!

So now, without further ado, let's get to playing:

A ; NEW RECRUIT

Well then, welcome to the guild, Initiate! After some thought (or maybe the choice was obvious), you've finally settled on a guild, and you're ready to get started. You're welcome to check out your accommodations and see what kind of people you'll be living with for the foreseeable future. This is your home now, so hopefully you get alone with them. If not, then you can just spend all of your time sharpening your skills!

Whether you're just claiming your bed or you're jumping right into the thick of things to practice or sign up for a mission, a new recruit is unlikely to go unnoticed.

B ; MISSION TIME

It's your first mission, which is pretty exciting, right? You have all these pictures in your head of going off to fight a dragon, to come home with great riches and valor...

Too bad those missions are for the higher ups.

No, it's the middle of the night, and you're out guarding the small fields just outside of town from wild animals. Right now you're standing by the cucumbers, which are considered especially important to guard, for some reason. You have to fight off sleepiness somehow, so maybe an animal will come out for you to scare off, or maybe you'll just end up chatting with whoever is stuck doing this with you.

Or you know, if you're a dick, you'll steal the vegetables for yourself.

C ; STORM THE CASTLE

Okay, the missions for initiates are pretty lame, and you're ready for some real fighting. You can go alone, or you can go with some other people, but it's off to Castle Dyspros! You'll find a variety of creatures to fight, and the power of teamwork will help you make progress through the castle!

Or you'll die. There's that too. Good thing it's fairly inconsequential, if weird!

Either way, have fun fighting to your heart's content!

...Knowing me, I'll get lunch all over 'em. Unless you wanna study while we eat.

[She shrugs. It's simple, really.]

[assiduous]

[ mako shrugs back, and bends down to scoop up his books and stick them back in his bag. ]

I might, but it's up to you.

[rebonding]

Then we'll bring 'em.

[Korra collects her limited supplies and stuffs the book in her own bag.]

Ready to go? [She offers him her hand once again.]

[assiduous]

[ he laces his fingers in hers as he slings his bag over his shoulder with the other hand ]

You know where we're going? [ he knows the direction of nickelhollow, but... one end might be the market and the other might be manslaughter alley, you know? ]

[rebonding]

Uh... Sorta?

[She turns to face the completely wrong direction, stops herself, than bites at her upper lip.]

Yeah maybe you outta take the lead.

[assiduous]

[ mako snickers under his breath, and tugs her hand in the correct direction, ribbing her just a little bit, ]

Come on, it's easier than Republic. [ MAKO YOU DON'T KNOW EVERYTHING, SIR ]

[rebonding]

Yeah, and you know how good I was at that... [she adds sarcastically. Really, she'd been a mess back in the city, especially when she'd first arrived. Korra lets Mako lead the way, following along beside him.]

[assiduous]

Was. [ he takes his time, side stepping the stall owners that try to intercept him in the street while they hawk their wares with a well honed city slicker's casual indifference to everyone else in the world. mako doesn't gawk like some country rube at every passing oddity (three headed frogs included), as curious as he is, he knows to keep his head down while he looks, and he'd definitely rather pay attention to korra anyway. ]

This whole place is only about half the size of downtown, when you think about it.

[rebonding]

[Korra, meanwhile, doesn't have a lifetime of experience under her belt. What little time she's spent in the innermost city parts of Republic have been with Mako, and he's a pretty good tour guide when it comes to the whole "keep your head down and don't pull anything stupid" protocol. She manages to resist most of the glances in the direction of the strange shops and booths lining the streets.]

I know, I know. It's still way different though.

[A stolen glance off to the side proves to be a very bad idea. She gulps.]

...Yeah, that was definitely a three-headed frog.

[assiduous]

[ was it? mako glances back, half wondering if you have to do anything different to cook them. ]

I think the heads are used in invisibility potions... [ surely the legs are edible though, right? bet they taste like pig-chicken... ]

[rebonding]

Right... Invisibility potions that you drink, I bet. [She shudders.] I'd rather take my chances with being visible, thanks.

[Frog heads. Delicious.]

[assiduous]

Just stick to the legs. Tastes just like pig-chicken. [ MAKO ARE YOU IMPLYING THAT YOU'VE EATEN MICE-FROGS BEFORE...

(yeah...) ]

[rebonding]

Are you saying that you've eaten one'a those? [There goes her appetite.]

[assiduous]

[ :< mako frowns at her tone, a little embarrassed, having not thought it was weird... ] Uh, yeah. There's a place down on seventeenth that serves a lot of Foggy Swamp food? I used to work there.

[ ... mako are you saying you know how to cook frog legs

(.... yes) ]

[rebonding]

...Oooh...! So you know how to cook 'em?

[She chances another glance back toward the booth in question, even though they've already passed it a while ago. Korra supposes she shouldn't be surprised. Mako can pretty much cook anything.

Good thing, since she can't.]

More or less. [ they were mice-frogs... not frog frogs, but... same dif, right? ]
