TEST DRIVE MEME

So first of all, welcome to Dyspros' very first test drive meme! We're happy that you're interested in the game, and we hope that you have some fun playing with the setting, regardless of whether you decide to join or not.

As a general reminder, we recommend that you look over the game information before jumping in. In addition, if you decide you're ready to join, you're welcome to put in a reserve, and applications will open on May 4th at 12:01 AM (EST). Finally, if you have any questions or concerns, please send us a message!

So now, without further ado, let's get to playing:

A ; NEW RECRUIT

Well then, welcome to the guild, Initiate! After some thought (or maybe the choice was obvious), you've finally settled on a guild, and you're ready to get started. You're welcome to check out your accommodations and see what kind of people you'll be living with for the foreseeable future. This is your home now, so hopefully you get alone with them. If not, then you can just spend all of your time sharpening your skills!

Whether you're just claiming your bed or you're jumping right into the thick of things to practice or sign up for a mission, a new recruit is unlikely to go unnoticed.

B ; MISSION TIME

It's your first mission, which is pretty exciting, right? You have all these pictures in your head of going off to fight a dragon, to come home with great riches and valor...

Too bad those missions are for the higher ups.

No, it's the middle of the night, and you're out guarding the small fields just outside of town from wild animals. Right now you're standing by the cucumbers, which are considered especially important to guard, for some reason. You have to fight off sleepiness somehow, so maybe an animal will come out for you to scare off, or maybe you'll just end up chatting with whoever is stuck doing this with you.

Or you know, if you're a dick, you'll steal the vegetables for yourself.

C ; STORM THE CASTLE

Okay, the missions for initiates are pretty lame, and you're ready for some real fighting. You can go alone, or you can go with some other people, but it's off to Castle Dyspros! You'll find a variety of creatures to fight, and the power of teamwork will help you make progress through the castle!

Or you'll die. There's that too. Good thing it's fairly inconsequential, if weird!

Either way, have fun fighting to your heart's content!

What doesn't move on its own?

[ Kids were easier to talk to. Easier than adults, at least. She has been watching him for quite some time! This is a bad habit of hers that she won't be breaking any time soon. Watching him gave her an idea of how he fought, though. ]

Um, that is— I mean— [ She hides behind her jian. ... That isn't helping, Kougyoku. ] You have quite the stamina for someone your age.

[hasavision]

[He gives a small jump, turning around in a half-crouch to see who's speaking to him.

It's... a girl? A really pretty girl, dressed in clothes befitting of a foreign princess of some sort. Feeling it would be somewhat rude to continue sitting while trying to speak to her, he hauls himself to his feet again while looking only a little sheepish. Is she going to tell on him for using a real sword instead of the wooden practice ones he'd been assigned because of his age?]

Well... I've gotten used to having to fight and do patrols and that kind of thing, so I've been able to build up a lot of endurance. [Much more than he ever had back home, at any rate.] Usually my sword kind of moves on its own, though. I guess it's probably because the magic it uses doesn't work here.

[peachbaths]

[ She lowers her sword to examine the boy's own weapon. No commoner would have his hands on a custom sword like the one he was holding. She could care less about whether he used a wooden sword - what mattered was whether he had what it took to wield the sword in his possession. ]

You mean the djinn inside it? Is that how it works?

[ It would be amazing if he was a dungeon conqueror like herself! ]

[hasavision]

A djinn? You mean like one of those fire spirits?

[That's... totally what they are, right? RPGs tell him so, therefore it must be true! Still, he shakes his head.]

It's the Brave's sword. I don't know exactly how it works, but I think it's probably because it's blessed by the Goddess. Whenever I need to block an attack, it moves by itself to protect me. [He gives it a few experimental waves - not that those movements would have activated its powers normally, but.]

It has some other powers too, but I haven't been able to use any of those ever since I got here. That's how I figured out its magic doesn't work.

No, they aren't always fire. [ Kougyoku is amazed that he even knows what they are. The way his own weapon works is strange, however. She has never heard of a weapon that moves on its own without a command. ] In any case, it seems that enchanted weapons don't work in this world. Mine, too.

[ At that moment, she takes out her jewel-encrusted hairpin and shows it to him. ]

A djinn resides in my metal vessel, but I can't access it either. I'm grateful enough that I can still fight. H-how about you? [ She shies away from him again. ] How are you faring?

[hasavision]

Wait, so... it stays in that? Is it because of the gemstone?

[That... actually would be pretty similar to the Brave's Sword, in a way.]

Well, I'm used to fighting with the sword's help, so it's not like I'm totally unprepared. I guess I just... don't really know any techniques.

[Especially since, in his experience, it really all comes down to how you go about taking down the boss fights enemy. As long as you can hit the magical attack into the window to weaken the opponent, you're golden.]

[peachbaths]

[ Not exactly, but close enough! Kougyoku simply nods in reply. ]

Have you not started formal training with the guild? [ Then again, it's hard to believe that they would teach a child right away. ]

[He makes a face here.]

They said I need to practice for a month to make sure I can handle being in a guild.

[Which is downright silly in his opinion. He's fought monsters and joined a band of vigilantes, he can totally handle joining a guild!!]
