[ if there is one thing hirato's never expected to be losing sleep over, it would have to be vegetables and grain and all those things grown in fields. even so, it's almost nostalgic enough to be endearing, this kind of simple grunt mission, though admittedly even the missions hirato had been given back home when he was just a young lad were more exciting than this. more meaningful, in a way. or two. either way, they'd certainly felt more meaningful back then, but maybe he'd just been blinded by a sense of duty.
oh, the boredom is so obvious on his face now. in fact, he can't say that he even cares enough to summon up one of his usual smiles, horrifically insincere as they tend to be. instead he leans back against a fence, sword clinking against it, and he tries to hold back a yawn that isn't the result of fatigue at all.
how very basic, this. though it takes all kinds, he supposes. there's no reason here for him to not take this at least semi-seriously, even if it feels ridiculous to be reduced to an initiate.
the reason he speaks up, that gently acknowledging glance he shoots his partner-- it's not so much for the sake of being friendly as it is for the sake of making time pass just a little faster. ]
