TEST DRIVE MEME

So first of all, welcome to Dyspros' very first test drive meme! We're happy that you're interested in the game, and we hope that you have some fun playing with the setting, regardless of whether you decide to join or not.

As a general reminder, we recommend that you look over the game information before jumping in. In addition, if you decide you're ready to join, you're welcome to put in a reserve, and applications will open on May 4th at 12:01 AM (EST). Finally, if you have any questions or concerns, please send us a message!

So now, without further ado, let's get to playing:

A ; NEW RECRUIT

Well then, welcome to the guild, Initiate! After some thought (or maybe the choice was obvious), you've finally settled on a guild, and you're ready to get started. You're welcome to check out your accommodations and see what kind of people you'll be living with for the foreseeable future. This is your home now, so hopefully you get alone with them. If not, then you can just spend all of your time sharpening your skills!

Whether you're just claiming your bed or you're jumping right into the thick of things to practice or sign up for a mission, a new recruit is unlikely to go unnoticed.

B ; MISSION TIME

It's your first mission, which is pretty exciting, right? You have all these pictures in your head of going off to fight a dragon, to come home with great riches and valor...

Too bad those missions are for the higher ups.

No, it's the middle of the night, and you're out guarding the small fields just outside of town from wild animals. Right now you're standing by the cucumbers, which are considered especially important to guard, for some reason. You have to fight off sleepiness somehow, so maybe an animal will come out for you to scare off, or maybe you'll just end up chatting with whoever is stuck doing this with you.

Or you know, if you're a dick, you'll steal the vegetables for yourself.

C ; STORM THE CASTLE

Okay, the missions for initiates are pretty lame, and you're ready for some real fighting. You can go alone, or you can go with some other people, but it's off to Castle Dyspros! You'll find a variety of creatures to fight, and the power of teamwork will help you make progress through the castle!

Or you'll die. There's that too. Good thing it's fairly inconsequential, if weird!

Either way, have fun fighting to your heart's content!

[ He crosses his arms in front of him, as if to ward off the evil that was his rapist murderous intent. ]

I'm watching you... [ He raises a skeptical eyebrow, obviously joking around despite how straight his expression is. ]

[ Little does Aoi know that Johan is also a scholar. He acts mightily impressed anyway, or at least as impressed as Johan can act. That sanguine smile stays on his face, though with a slight raise of his brows he conveys a humoured, brighter look to his new "friend." ]

It is a bit much.

[ He steps in a bit further, glancing around. ]

But think of all of the good you can do with it.

[dappster]

[ He sets his hands on his hips, taking offense!! ] Hey, I managed to stay outside of my room long enough to find you, didn't I?

[ WOW, nosy indeed. Aoi lingers behind. He doesn't have much to hide... There's just clothes in the drawers, neatly folded and such. There are a few pairs of pants laying around on the chair in the corner... Aoi is messy when he wants to be. Also, he has a violin set up at the window, along with a stand.

But yeah, there's not much. Aoi is really private since he's a spy back home, so he's carried a few habits with him here. He doesn't leave many traces of himself around. ]

[dappster]

I guess I could sleep in here and that's good. [ SARCASTIC. Aoi is such a snide asshole. He walks around the room to lead Johan further in and let him look around more. How embarrassing... that Johan is also a scholar. ]

Hey, which class are you in anyway?

[ A soft exhale escapes him at the remark, but he makes no real move to acknowledge it at first, obviously prioritizing the extra task he'd taken on at hand. He sits cross-legged, scribing a few notes down on a paper for a report compilation. It might seem as if he's pointedly ignoring the other man for several seconds, until he finally decides it's appropriate to glance over at the other man on guard. ]

Are you speaking from experience? It's clear that you're awake.

[warmonger]

[ as immune as he is to her literal bubbles and sparkles, this was just what he wanted. it's always nice to have a bunch of expendables depending on you. putting a hand to his chin thoughtfully, he spends a moment deliberating. ]

Well... I guess I can cut you a break. Just this once. I'd hate to make a good girl look bad.

[ not that it would be hard to find out, but Ali doesn't even know her name. he was never going to report her obviously. and he's just as new, but shh. ]

Here's a tip though. Stay on target. Amateurs can't afford to take independent action.

[ He decidedly shifts back to the first remark Aoi had made, turning to face a bookcase. ]

You could also host others in a time of crisis.

[warmonger]

[ sheesh, Aoi, cut a guy a break. he was just teasing and all. and he's waiting, by the way. since it was his suggestion, he must have some sort of plan in mind. ]

Don't tell me that's the kind of reconnaissance you meant.

[ Hei had just finished a sweep of the area. Although he was confident enough in his skills to know that he would have caught something suspicious had they been spied on, he was also paranoid enough that he couldn't ever weigh out any worst case scenario. He tenses, but remembers to keep up the act he'd been putting on since arrival.

It was hard. He'd been sorted into a Guilt that specifically made it apparent that he couldn't be underestimated, so the act was wearing on him. Still, it served its purposes. ]

It's probably just the wind. [ He whispers assuredly with a little smile! ]

[warmonger]

[ honestly, he's not really concerned that this guy is asleep, but... he seems plenty distracted. why's he even here? in a way, he can't really blame him because this is a damn boring job but it's a little excessive. not to mention he looks like he belongs in a library rather than here. he's already annoyed, so in the moment he goes unacknowledged, he scowls. ]

...Maybe I'm just inventive. Big shots don't take jobs like this.

[ he starts to head over to where the other man is sitting, leaving his temporary post. ]

The hell are you doing?

[ingrained]

[ From his appearance alone, no one would be able to tell that Serpico's patience was wearing thin with this place. He never had a problem in throwing himself into a higher purpose, specifically missions that had a start and end to them, but at the end of the day there was nothing left for him. He truly was a valet, as he understood himself to be the type of man who needed someone to lead him around, even in his personal life. No one would just do, though. There was only one person on his mind.

Blah blah, he's shaken out of his thoughts by (what he sees as) an unruly-looking man's inquiry. ]

Ah, I guess you could say that. Do I stand out for it?

[That the Thieves Guild is underground sits strangely with him, but it's the only guild he's had any inclination to visit since arriving in this world. Itachi lingers above, reluctant despite that. The marked sewer lid (which his eyes picked out easily) is still foreign territory, and it makes him tense.

Eventually he descends, adjusting to the dimness, walking down a line of shops and silently observing the inventory.

He gives off an unapproachable air, but who doesn't, down here? And if he happens to bump into anyone or obstruct someone's path, he'll say quietly--] Excuse me.

[Whoever he's here with, he hasn't spoken a word, not even in greeting. Itachi stands stone-still as he looks out across the field, somehow focused despite his distant body language.

He's an assassin, but if he has any weapons on him they're well concealed.]

[Lithuania hasn't managed to get the hang of navigating the city yet. Well, it was only to be expected, given how disorienting his entire situation still was. Lithuania's only just getting back to the Seven Titans after having spent far too much time going in the wrong direction entirely. He offers a smile for the woman when she asks him, then, because he was only just in a very similar situation.]

If you head that way [Lithuania points] down the road you should be able to find it, Miss. I just passed it myself trying to get back here.

Well, it certainly isn't lacking for the excitement! [Smiling wide, Iri muffles the short, pleasant laugh she gives with her hand.] How about you?

[storybooks]

[ He relaxes more, closing his eyes as he holds the paper to his chest, effectively cutting off any sight Ali might catch of it. ]

I'm compiling a report of what I've seen. [ He glances up at him tiredly. ]

It's rather boring. I'm afraid if I let you read it, you'll only get more restless. [ You know, that's said so kindly, but it's a bit mocking of his disposition. ]

Quite...On many counts. I am going to suppose you didn't live in a medieval sort of town full of magic?

[cuphalffull]

... Right. [She accepts his hand with grace, but without saying anything more. She's used to accepting things she might not believe she so much needs at the moment. Anything to make you feel like a man, Aoi!] Just the search will shake the night up a little, don't you think? Let's go check it out.

[warmonger]

[ he wasn't really thinking about who he stopped. the first thing on his mind is asking about the mechanics of this city, and the presumed country it was situated in. he's already picked up on the less than advanced level of technology available, but he's curious about that and about potential higher ups.

the newcomers like himself probably won't know much though. Ali just wants to cover his bases. ]

Oh, no, I was just hoping I wasn't the only one. It's a bigger place than I'd realized.

[warmonger]

[ huh. so he is doing something useful, or at least what he apparently deems useful. Ali tends to think it's a waste but a guy like this is probably wasting his time just by being here, so why not write a diary about it? he takes the mocking with a change of expression: a smile. not a kind one. ]

You're writing up a report about nothing and I'm the one that's restless?

[warmonger]

[ excitement, huh? he likes the sound of that. ]

Kind of a culture shock. It could be worse. [ but he's quick to dismiss that. ] Where's the exciting part?

[ Louise is a knight, and takes her duty very seriously. In fact, the entire night you've been on guard with her, she seems to have not said a word to you. Is she giving you the stiff? Just plain uninterested? Well, it's boring, and she doesn't seem to be a good partner to indulge on this tedious assignment. The task is really dragging on and on and on...

COME ON GIRL, TALK TO YOUR PARTNER. Oh wait, is she finally going to say something? ]

Are you getting tired?

Precisely! And if there ever were a chance of running into a threat of the human sort, it'd be incredibly slim!

[not to say that there aren't beggars in this town because he's seen Plenty, but colress highly doubts any of them will come this way since the authorities apparently (finally) took notice... even if that was the reason. all he knows is that he's been assigned to a joke-of-a-mission and he and his feet are not enjoying it At All.

he shifts his position so that he's not quite slouching on the fence as he was before, bringing a hand to his chin in thought.] It almost makes you wonder why the farmer spent money on hiring guards for this garden rather than baiting a few strays? The latter seems like the far more inexpensive option.

... Hmm? You don't think looking around and taking in all the different sights is exciting?

C; [ So whatever strategic approach you've decided to take for an ambush on these creatures has led you to the exact point where Hei was planning to attack and recuperate from. Get ready to be condescended at..................

Hei glowers, then coolly speaks. ]

Turn around. This isn't something you should be doing. [ He wasn't going to allow anyone to compromise this for him. ]

[ what's with women and the crazy plans they come up for all in the name of "love"? it's like the single most reliable constant across the worlds... he could have sworn he would have found people closer to his way of thinking in the mage guild but - nope. not a chance.

sigh.

maybe he should have joined the scholars after all... ]

I wonder if there's still time to reconsider my options.
