TEST DRIVE MEME

So first of all, welcome to Dyspros' very first test drive meme! We're happy that you're interested in the game, and we hope that you have some fun playing with the setting, regardless of whether you decide to join or not.

As a general reminder, we recommend that you look over the game information before jumping in. In addition, if you decide you're ready to join, you're welcome to put in a reserve, and applications will open on May 4th at 12:01 AM (EST). Finally, if you have any questions or concerns, please send us a message!

So now, without further ado, let's get to playing:

A ; NEW RECRUIT

Well then, welcome to the guild, Initiate! After some thought (or maybe the choice was obvious), you've finally settled on a guild, and you're ready to get started. You're welcome to check out your accommodations and see what kind of people you'll be living with for the foreseeable future. This is your home now, so hopefully you get alone with them. If not, then you can just spend all of your time sharpening your skills!

Whether you're just claiming your bed or you're jumping right into the thick of things to practice or sign up for a mission, a new recruit is unlikely to go unnoticed.

B ; MISSION TIME

It's your first mission, which is pretty exciting, right? You have all these pictures in your head of going off to fight a dragon, to come home with great riches and valor...

Too bad those missions are for the higher ups.

No, it's the middle of the night, and you're out guarding the small fields just outside of town from wild animals. Right now you're standing by the cucumbers, which are considered especially important to guard, for some reason. You have to fight off sleepiness somehow, so maybe an animal will come out for you to scare off, or maybe you'll just end up chatting with whoever is stuck doing this with you.

Or you know, if you're a dick, you'll steal the vegetables for yourself.

C ; STORM THE CASTLE

Okay, the missions for initiates are pretty lame, and you're ready for some real fighting. You can go alone, or you can go with some other people, but it's off to Castle Dyspros! You'll find a variety of creatures to fight, and the power of teamwork will help you make progress through the castle!

Or you'll die. There's that too. Good thing it's fairly inconsequential, if weird!

Either way, have fun fighting to your heart's content!

[ Nowi sits down next to him, showing no intention of leaving ]

[ cue skeptical eyebrow raise. he turns back to the book, skimming the passage with his finger to find his lost spot, ]

Why wouldn't I work — I wanna eat, right?

[ that was something Nowi never worried about. dispite being an adult, she never thought about those things. Oh goodness, this kid was more of an adult than she was ]

I — I guess you're right.

[ she slouched back, and looked down at the grass for a moment ]

You just looked alone, like me. And I know that I want friends, so I thought maybe you would too.

[assiduous]

[ ... oop, that's how you get to mako's attention. ]

You've got somewhere to stay, right? [ ... oh god unless, based on nowi's clothes, she's in some weird sex ring and AS MUCH AS HE WANTS TO HELP he knows what pimps are and why he shouldn't cross them. ]

[ Nowi couldn't help but chuckle. It was really cute that this kid was worried about her. ]

I am living with my guild, there's no need to worry about me. What about you? You look like something is on your mind. I tend to worry when I see such a young kid like yourself all stressed out over nothing!

[rebonding]

[Korra, meanwhile, doesn't have a lifetime of experience under her belt. What little time she's spent in the innermost city parts of Republic have been with Mako, and he's a pretty good tour guide when it comes to the whole "keep your head down and don't pull anything stupid" protocol. She manages to resist most of the glances in the direction of the strange shops and booths lining the streets.]

I know, I know. It's still way different though.

[A stolen glance off to the side proves to be a very bad idea. She gulps.]

...Yeah, that was definitely a three-headed frog.

[beat]

Nice thought. [ Let's not focus on both the sheer pain AND embarrassment that would bring.

He stands upright, brushing the dirt off of him and patting his nasty-looking forehead. ] Hey, uh. Between you and me — if there's like, the slight chance you'd ever decline the night job privileges you just won, consider a small trade-off. Y'know, I get bathroom breaks, you get a pair of these swag-ass aviators. [ He points to his shades, which have cracked just a bit from the fall. ] Consider it a grand souvenir of this night. Put it on and let it resonate your teen tossin' confidence with ease for months to come. I know it ain't detachable, like a prosthetic arm or some shit, but it's the best I can do. I'm desperate. I need bathroom breaks. I need to pee.

[assiduous]

[ omf wat ]

I'm young? You're what, thirteen?

[ was it? mako glances back, half wondering if you have to do anything different to cook them. ]

I think the heads are used in invisibility potions... [ surely the legs are edible though, right? bet they taste like pig-chicken... ]

[assiduous]

[ ... slightest quirk of an eyebrow. ]

Go, I don't care. [ HE DIDN'T EVEN FIGHT YOU FOR THE BATHROOM BREAKS...? ]

[kindhearted]

Yeah...

[Roji follows close behind, cautiously glancing around as they go. When they reach the large room, he just gapes at the sheer size of the thing. This castle is way bigger than he thought, and his standards weren't exactly low because he had never been in a castle before.

He then listens intently to Ezreal's question, and takes a moment to mull it over.]

Well, considering how empty this room is, there's a good chance that my group has already gone to the next floor. You'd figure this room would be swarming with monsters to block you from getting up there. So maybe we should go u--

[But before he can finish, he's stopped dead in his tracks by faint screaming coming from behind the other door in the room. His eyes go wide with fright.]

W-Was that...a scream just now?

[skillshots]

I... think so. [Ezreal has a look of slight panic on his face - a rare sight. Hopefully they aren't too late..] We have to hurry. Now.

[He quickly bolts toward the door on the far side of the room. He can hear the screams slowly getting louder and louder as he approaches.]

I'm kicking this door down on three.

One... [He quickly checks over his gun again, just in case. Fully loaded.]

Two... [He gets into position.]

Three! [With one swift motion, he kicks open the door with all of his strength, and runs inside.]

[rebonding]

Right... Invisibility potions that you drink, I bet. [She shudders.] I'd rather take my chances with being visible, thanks.

[Frog heads. Delicious.]

[assiduous]

Just stick to the legs. Tastes just like pig-chicken. [ MAKO ARE YOU IMPLYING THAT YOU'VE EATEN MICE-FROGS BEFORE...

(yeah...) ]

[rebonding]

Are you saying that you've eaten one'a those? [There goes her appetite.]

[assiduous]

[ :< mako frowns at her tone, a little embarrassed, having not thought it was weird... ] Uh, yeah. There's a place down on seventeenth that serves a lot of Foggy Swamp food? I used to work there.

[ ... mako are you saying you know how to cook frog legs

[ Nowi gives a slight laugh, she's used to this by now ]

I know I don't look it, but I'm 1,000 years old, give or take a few years. Once you hit 400, you kinda stop keeping count. It's, well...it's quite complicated really. But I know you're busy...

Oh wow! That sounds really interesting, could you tell me about her? Instead of playtime, we could have story time!

[ Nowi situates herself next to him and looks up at him with her wide, child-like eyes ]
