TEST DRIVE MEME

So first of all, welcome to Dyspros' very first test drive meme! We're happy that you're interested in the game, and we hope that you have some fun playing with the setting, regardless of whether you decide to join or not.

As a general reminder, we recommend that you look over the game information before jumping in. In addition, if you decide you're ready to join, you're welcome to put in a reserve, and applications will open on May 4th at 12:01 AM (EST). Finally, if you have any questions or concerns, please send us a message!

So now, without further ado, let's get to playing:

A ; NEW RECRUIT

Well then, welcome to the guild, Initiate! After some thought (or maybe the choice was obvious), you've finally settled on a guild, and you're ready to get started. You're welcome to check out your accommodations and see what kind of people you'll be living with for the foreseeable future. This is your home now, so hopefully you get alone with them. If not, then you can just spend all of your time sharpening your skills!

Whether you're just claiming your bed or you're jumping right into the thick of things to practice or sign up for a mission, a new recruit is unlikely to go unnoticed.

B ; MISSION TIME

It's your first mission, which is pretty exciting, right? You have all these pictures in your head of going off to fight a dragon, to come home with great riches and valor...

Too bad those missions are for the higher ups.

No, it's the middle of the night, and you're out guarding the small fields just outside of town from wild animals. Right now you're standing by the cucumbers, which are considered especially important to guard, for some reason. You have to fight off sleepiness somehow, so maybe an animal will come out for you to scare off, or maybe you'll just end up chatting with whoever is stuck doing this with you.

Or you know, if you're a dick, you'll steal the vegetables for yourself.

C ; STORM THE CASTLE

Okay, the missions for initiates are pretty lame, and you're ready for some real fighting. You can go alone, or you can go with some other people, but it's off to Castle Dyspros! You'll find a variety of creatures to fight, and the power of teamwork will help you make progress through the castle!

Or you'll die. There's that too. Good thing it's fairly inconsequential, if weird!

Either way, have fun fighting to your heart's content!

[ AS FAIR AS HIS CURRENT FACE, WITH ALL THE GODDAMN DIRT AND BRUISES ON IT (his forehead's got this nasty welt).

But, at this moment in time, there's just... a shitload of groaning. And moaning. And aching. And quaking — as Dave slowly props his elbows up, pushing his back just barely off the ground. ]

Fuc...k...

[ He finds it's always easier to speak, rather than deal with the shitty angsty thoughts running through his head at any given time, or suffering from this impending pain from being launched furiously at the ground. ]

...You.

Fuckin'...

[ He attempts to toss his head at the night sky; fuck you, Mufasa, fuck you Scarface. He never wanted to be this cub. ]

SHIT!

[ What eventually started as a yell dwindles down to a repetition of even more groans. Goddammit. ]

[kindhearted]

Whoa...!

[Roji watches in complete awe at the accuracy of those shots. Holy crap, six in a row! This guy is amazing! He's suddenly really glad and grateful that he was found and saved by this boy.

He has hardly any time to reflect on the situation though, because it's time for him to take the stage again. This time, he's going to need to use one of his offense abilities, and admittedly, he hasn't gotten much practice in with them yet.

He shakily takes a couple steps in front of the other blonde and holds his stave out, directed at the approaching monsters. He closes his eyes in an attempt to calm himself and concentrate, but it's obvious he's terrified because his hands are shaking terribly. He calls his attack just as the creatures start to pounce.]

L-Lumen Arc!!

[A laser sparks from his stave, although it's not nearly as powerful as it should be, and merely stuns the monsters for a couple seconds. They quickly return to their advance.]

Oh no...

[Frozen in fear, Roji can only watch in horror as the monsters are almost upon them. Hopefully he bought enough time for his partner to reload...]

[skillshots]

[Ezreal fumbles around in his pack, looking for the right ammunition.]

Let's see here... I should really organize more... Right, here we go!

[He pulls out a golden bullet imbued with runes, and quickly loads it into his revolver.]

I think it's time to get lucky. Elemental Roulette!

[The bullet exits the chamber, and as it pierces one of the monsters, it explodes - creating a giant ball of fire. The resulting blaze makes quick work of the remaining creatures.]

Woah! That was awesome! [He pumps his fist into the air.] I wasn't expecting such an... explosive result, but that worked!

[He turns back to the trembling boy, and gives him a thumbs-up.]

[kindhearted]

Aaaahhh!

[Roji stumbles back to avoid getting caught in the explosion, and ends up falling right on his bottom in the process. As cool as that attack was, he'd rather not be fried to a crisp on accident. When Ezreal turns to him, he's on the ground with his arms still out in attempt to shield himself.

But he slowly realizes that it's oddly quiet now, so he cautiously peeks out from behind his arms, eventually lowering them altogether.]

I-Is it finally over...?

[He nervously glances around and spots the remaining monster corpses. Or what's left of them from that firey explosion, anyway. He lets out a huge sigh of relief now that they're safe...for now, then smiles sheepishly at the other boy.]

Thank goodness... [He starts to get up.] And thank you for helping me. I think I would've been monster food if I hadn't run into you. You were amazing!

[He offers a hand for a hand shake.] I'm Roji. What's your name?

[skillshots]

[Ezreal accepts the shake, taking in all of the praise he's getting. Damn, does it feel good.]

Ezreal. [He chuckles.] It was nothing, really. I just did what anyone else with a conscience would do.

[He looks around the empty room, confused. Surely someone who isn't great at combat would come here with at least a companion or two. But no one else was around.]

It's pretty dangerous around here without grouping up. Did you come here alone?

( iva is taking this job far less seriously. she's done her time in circus, was initiated like everyone else in the higher ranks and she has the scars to prove it, so being reduced to such a demeaning task...talk about bullshit! )

I'm bored!

( she drawls, her face pulled into displeasure. )

Isn't having both of us here overkill? I'm giving the mission coordinator a piece of my mind after this.

[hasavision]

Well... That I was using a real sword.

[He scrambles to his feet, looking guilty as he sheathes the sword at his side.]

Please don't tell anyone! I know how to use a real sword, but they won't let me just because I'm so young. It's not fair!

[hasavision]

Huh... Really? Not even for vacations or anything?

[Even at home, he's used to going to Chiba for the summer.]

[beat]

Hold your swoons, Lalonde. The nerdy lancer in me has got to know.

[ If HYPOTHETICAL GUILD FIGHTS!! isn't that appropriate of a topic at half past midnight, then he'd hate to know what is... ]

[assiduous]

[ mako takes a second, ignoring the first part of dave's outburst to wipe the blood off his mouth and spit the rest off to the side, fingers lingering over the split. this'll be fun to explain to his girlfriend. ( ._.) "yeah babe, i agreed to fight a twelve year old and then he headbutted me so i threw his ass in the dirt."

at least he feels kinda sorry. a bit. look, he's even leaning over to offer dave a hand. ]

Sorry man, forgot you weren't in pads. Wanna try and walk it off?

[ leave it to iva to be upset for two about this. ]

Now, now.

[ though he definitely sees her point. they've both put the rookie stage behind them long ago and they have more than enough scarring on their bodies to show it.

however, hirato isn't planning on letting the mood grow sour just yet, which is why he's as cheery as ever outwardly. ]

You never know when insects of mass destruction could make their move, Iva.

[ His eyes are closed and he's back to sprawling fully against the ground before he feels the presence of Mako leaning over him. And at that, Dave pops one eye open and bends his neck to stare blankly at the jock through his tousled shades.

First you insult his stature, then you outright imply you thought he was on his period? God, he'd call you out on it... but he's not in the mood.

So he doesn't answer Mako; instead Dave slaps his hand away and uses his own strength to prop himself to a point where he's sitting up — maybe that pain was a bit of an exaggeration... ]

[ ...With his feet spread out in front of him, he stares idly into space, not making a sound. ]

[beat]

[ And then with one quick gesture, he flips Mako the bird. ]

[assiduous]

[ ... ]

C'mon, there are worse ways to lose a one-on-one. [ here's his hand again, you baby, get off the ground. he'll get you some ice if you want it that bad. ]

[beat]

[ Does he look like a b*tch?

He doesn't need ice, he's just a little shaken by this whole event. And slowly dawning is the slight realization with how pathetic he's been acting... so it's about time he finally speaks. ]

...Yeah. [ A grunt as he glances at Mako's hand for a moment, before taking it. ] Hate to be that guy who'll have to tell Berserkers everywhere they friggin' suck.

[ Haha, well... ]

Against a Punisher, anyway.

I've dealt with those, you know-- actual bugs of mass destruction.

( she gives him a wry look, a little less upset now that she at least knows she's being heard. iva can bitch up a storm, of course she can, but something about hirato always grounds her to at least mild maturity. maybe because he's her captain and the two of them need to lead by example... )

Somehow, I don't think these are going to hurt anyone.

( iva lifts a hand, a fat fuzzy kawaii caterpillar crawling across her manicured fingers. bugs are stupid and gross but this guy is the most interesting thing to happen to her all night so she isn't quite ready to murder him just yet. )

[assiduous]

[ mako laughs quietly as he hauls dave to his feet, ] Eh, I think I played it more like a Pugilist anyway. Punisher probably would've tried to set you on fire or hex your eyes out right off the start.

[ aren't you a mage, you big jock ]

[kindhearted]

[Roji smiles warmly after introductions are over.] Nice to meet you, Ezreal.

[When he sees Ezreal looking around, he does the same thing. A troubled expression appears on his face as he notes the emptiness of the room.]

No, I did have a group, but I don't know where they went. I remember being right behind them, and then all of the sudden they were gone, replaced with, well... [He shudders, recalling the initial pursuit.] all of those monsters. I wonder if some kind of magic was in play.

[assiduous]

[ mako's gaze flits to the book for a second before, now free of it's weight, he stretches one leg out in front of him and pops the other knee up to rest his forearm on. leaning against her like this is his unsaid way of supporting her — literally. (FROM THE STREET I BET THEY LOOK SO CUTE) ]

You'll get it, I know you will. [ HE BELIEVES IN U KORRA UR GREAT OK ]

Wanna focus and meditate here for a bit, or do you wanna go find lunch and talk through it?

[ food!! they can find something good, right? away from the dubious cleanliness of the guild kitchens. ]

[rebonding]

If you're gonna put it that way, let's get some lunch.

[Korra laughs, but doesn't make a move to stand up yet. She doesn't exactly want to.]

Know any good places?

[assiduous]

I hear there's a place that sells okonomiyaki in Ironwall by the disciples, but it's Ironwall, so... [ he shrugs, bc ew, expensive. ] Or there's probably cheaper stuff in Nickelhollow.

[rebonding]

We... might wanna go for the cheap stuff, then. No point in wasting money around here. [She shrugs.] Unless you wanna go to Ironwall.

[assiduous]

[ mako shakes his head ] If we want okonomiyaki that bad, I'll make it. [ these assholes don't know how to cook good food ok ]

Let's hit up Nickehollow, it's closer anyway.

[rebonding]

Sure! [Korra figures that if Mako were in the mood for cooking, he'd have mentioned it. Besides, eating out was fun! It didn't involve cleaning up. She finally stood up, holding a hand out to help him up.]

I guess we gotta return the books first, though, huh.
