TEST DRIVE MEME

So first of all, welcome to Dyspros' very first test drive meme! We're happy that you're interested in the game, and we hope that you have some fun playing with the setting, regardless of whether you decide to join or not.

As a general reminder, we recommend that you look over the game information before jumping in. In addition, if you decide you're ready to join, you're welcome to put in a reserve, and applications will open on May 4th at 12:01 AM (EST). Finally, if you have any questions or concerns, please send us a message!

So now, without further ado, let's get to playing:

A ; NEW RECRUIT

Well then, welcome to the guild, Initiate! After some thought (or maybe the choice was obvious), you've finally settled on a guild, and you're ready to get started. You're welcome to check out your accommodations and see what kind of people you'll be living with for the foreseeable future. This is your home now, so hopefully you get alone with them. If not, then you can just spend all of your time sharpening your skills!

Whether you're just claiming your bed or you're jumping right into the thick of things to practice or sign up for a mission, a new recruit is unlikely to go unnoticed.

B ; MISSION TIME

It's your first mission, which is pretty exciting, right? You have all these pictures in your head of going off to fight a dragon, to come home with great riches and valor...

Too bad those missions are for the higher ups.

No, it's the middle of the night, and you're out guarding the small fields just outside of town from wild animals. Right now you're standing by the cucumbers, which are considered especially important to guard, for some reason. You have to fight off sleepiness somehow, so maybe an animal will come out for you to scare off, or maybe you'll just end up chatting with whoever is stuck doing this with you.

Or you know, if you're a dick, you'll steal the vegetables for yourself.

C ; STORM THE CASTLE

Okay, the missions for initiates are pretty lame, and you're ready for some real fighting. You can go alone, or you can go with some other people, but it's off to Castle Dyspros! You'll find a variety of creatures to fight, and the power of teamwork will help you make progress through the castle!

Or you'll die. There's that too. Good thing it's fairly inconsequential, if weird!

Either way, have fun fighting to your heart's content!

It is very powerful, that is true. But like I said, it doesn't work here. It's supposed to give me a great amount of magical power, though...

[ But after getting so caught up with her canon magic problems, there's one thing she's been meaning to ask. ]

What is that? That woosh. I have not seen such a machine — much less one you can pilot.

[peachbaths]

[ Did she just?

This is really happening. ]

Oh, that's wonderful! [ Kougyoku gets in front of Chloe and takes her hands. She's so happy! Finally, her first female friend. ] I'm so happy I've made a friend! My name... my name is Kougyoku. What's yours?

pew pew you're under arrest for being late!! just kidding

That is only because of certain factors that are keeping me on this particular evening...

[ her voice trails off there as she tries to voice those factors out ]

For one, despite the hours we have spent together, I still cannot bring myself to ask for your name.

What doesn't move on its own?

[ Kids were easier to talk to. Easier than adults, at least. She has been watching him for quite some time! This is a bad habit of hers that she won't be breaking any time soon. Watching him gave her an idea of how he fought, though. ]

Um, that is— I mean— [ She hides behind her jian. ... That isn't helping, Kougyoku. ] You have quite the stamina for someone your age.

Hmph. [ If he's not going to say anything, she will! She faces her back towards him. ] Don't just stand there. F-follow me!

[ And she walks into the building once more, expecting him to follow. If anything, having someone more timid than she beside her helps her speak. That's her logic behind this.

[He gives a small jump, turning around in a half-crouch to see who's speaking to him.

It's... a girl? A really pretty girl, dressed in clothes befitting of a foreign princess of some sort. Feeling it would be somewhat rude to continue sitting while trying to speak to her, he hauls himself to his feet again while looking only a little sheepish. Is she going to tell on him for using a real sword instead of the wooden practice ones he'd been assigned because of his age?]

Well... I've gotten used to having to fight and do patrols and that kind of thing, so I've been able to build up a lot of endurance. [Much more than he ever had back home, at any rate.] Usually my sword kind of moves on its own, though. I guess it's probably because the magic it uses doesn't work here.

[hasavision]

[He was just going about with shopping when he spots Kimahri, doing a double-take once his mind registers what his eyes just saw. He's so surprised, he blurts out his thoughts before he even gets the chance to filter himself.]

There's Beastkin here-?!

[peachbaths]

[ She lowers her sword to examine the boy's own weapon. No commoner would have his hands on a custom sword like the one he was holding. She could care less about whether he used a wooden sword - what mattered was whether he had what it took to wield the sword in his possession. ]

You mean the djinn inside it? Is that how it works?

[ It would be amazing if he was a dungeon conqueror like herself! ]

[hasavision]

A djinn? You mean like one of those fire spirits?

[That's... totally what they are, right? RPGs tell him so, therefore it must be true! Still, he shakes his head.]

It's the Brave's sword. I don't know exactly how it works, but I think it's probably because it's blessed by the Goddess. Whenever I need to block an attack, it moves by itself to protect me. [He gives it a few experimental waves - not that those movements would have activated its powers normally, but.]

It has some other powers too, but I haven't been able to use any of those ever since I got here. That's how I figured out its magic doesn't work.

[ you clocked him right in the mouth, dave, thanks. he needs his face to stay pretty for girls to like him. so, in the interest of preventing any further headbutts or face shots, mako makes the decision to end this.

he twists in dave's scrawny 12 year old arms with a swear, using his longer reach to simultaneously pop one of dave's feet off the ground and, continuing with the momentum of his turn, sling dave towards the ground in a shoulder throw, fingers bunched in the white and red jersey.

he's beginning to taste blood in his mouth from that headbutt, so it's fair, right? ]

[No one knows what he's talking about...! His hands droop glumly and he frowns.]

A Vanship... It's not exactly like that. [The. The hand motions. But it's close.]

You really don't know?

No. Ships do not travel that fast on water. [ Dio, your future is weird. ]

[lucena]

[On... water... He's only ever heard of one ship that goes anywhere near the water. You kind of have to have large enough bodies of water in the first place for that kind of thing.]

Of course not. Vanships fly. [pshhh get with it girl] Why would you travel on water when the sky is so much bigger?

[lucena]

[Wow old man you gotta rank up this social link first... Tell him about your flying ship, he's into that.]

If you fall asleep, I won't tell anyone.

[Except he would tell absolutely everyone, even if they don't care - especially if they don't care - and the dumb smirk on his face isn't shy about that fact.]

Her face looks blank as she's trying to think though. ]

[ She goes to grab you by the arm and pull you up so you can stand properly now... the floor is a dirty place to sit, man. ]

[ All this beaming makes Chloe think she should do the same, so she smiles. ]

I'm Chloe. It's a pleasure to be your friend, Kougyoku.

[ Just copying how it sounds is good enough for Chloe to get the pronunciation right... hopefully. ]

[ siiigh. he just knew it would end up like this eventually. it was just that he didn't expect it to end this way so quickly ]

Then you want me to stare at these cucumbers all night along with you?

[Here's Mikado, sitting with his legs crossed on the floor at the shelter he's been sleeping at since arriving here. He has little slips of paper in front of him with the names of guilds written on them, and he's turning them over one at a time, thinking.

He really does need to make a decision soon, but there's something he can't figure out, and a voice in his head reminding him just how much he's lying to himself if he says that he's going to join that merchant class like he should...]

Oy, you should worry about yourself a little more! [ he's about to cast a first aid immediately, but she's not hurt and it looks like she's holding her own, huh. Maybe she wasn't bragging for nothing after all. Elliot pivots so his back is against hers, switching his grip on his two-handed sword quickly enough to fight off the torkrote. ]

[ asami's right — he would like to get back to the guild and see korra for a makeout session or smth a bit before he goes to bed, but! asami did ask, and she is out here all by herself, and he is trying to be a good friend and, while he could totally finish off this entire basket by himself easily, he also already knows he comes second in this kind of thing. mako's still adjusting from the "i want you to be happy but you also need to listen to me because i need to take care of you" default attitude he's had for... a long time, with his brother and his friends, really. old habits die hard, and he wants to make a good effort as much as he wants the people he cares about to be happy, and that means learning that it's not always a matter of street survival. i should stop talking.

the only indicator of any of that ^ is the briefest glance in the direction of the mages guild, before he offers another smile. HE WANTS TO BE HELPFUL AND GOOD!!! DO A GOOD JOB at all the things!!! ]

Yeah, sure.

[ of couse, just because he wants to be helpful and a good friend!!! and all of the things, does not mean he's... less of a dumb when it comes to talking.
