TEST DRIVE MEME

So first of all, welcome to Dyspros' very first test drive meme! We're happy that you're interested in the game, and we hope that you have some fun playing with the setting, regardless of whether you decide to join or not.

As a general reminder, we recommend that you look over the game information before jumping in. In addition, if you decide you're ready to join, you're welcome to put in a reserve, and applications will open on May 4th at 12:01 AM (EST). Finally, if you have any questions or concerns, please send us a message!

So now, without further ado, let's get to playing:

A ; NEW RECRUIT

Well then, welcome to the guild, Initiate! After some thought (or maybe the choice was obvious), you've finally settled on a guild, and you're ready to get started. You're welcome to check out your accommodations and see what kind of people you'll be living with for the foreseeable future. This is your home now, so hopefully you get alone with them. If not, then you can just spend all of your time sharpening your skills!

Whether you're just claiming your bed or you're jumping right into the thick of things to practice or sign up for a mission, a new recruit is unlikely to go unnoticed.

B ; MISSION TIME

It's your first mission, which is pretty exciting, right? You have all these pictures in your head of going off to fight a dragon, to come home with great riches and valor...

Too bad those missions are for the higher ups.

No, it's the middle of the night, and you're out guarding the small fields just outside of town from wild animals. Right now you're standing by the cucumbers, which are considered especially important to guard, for some reason. You have to fight off sleepiness somehow, so maybe an animal will come out for you to scare off, or maybe you'll just end up chatting with whoever is stuck doing this with you.

Or you know, if you're a dick, you'll steal the vegetables for yourself.

C ; STORM THE CASTLE

Okay, the missions for initiates are pretty lame, and you're ready for some real fighting. You can go alone, or you can go with some other people, but it's off to Castle Dyspros! You'll find a variety of creatures to fight, and the power of teamwork will help you make progress through the castle!

Or you'll die. There's that too. Good thing it's fairly inconsequential, if weird!

Either way, have fun fighting to your heart's content!

[a slow nod. he's definitely looking to, but he's been overlooked... and he's kind of expecting her to laugh at him, because that's What People Do. but he'll be good, honest!

it does get a little bit of a laugh out of him, though it's a completely silent laugh. that is the right way to look at things, isn't it?

maybe he can do this! YEAH! and he nods his head, bowing it sorta - he's trying to say thank you but without words...]

[ She looks at Kougyoku for a moment before looking at her hand that was holding hers in order to drag her along. Then Chloe looks at the sword that's tied to a wire that has also... been dragged along. ]

You could have asked first. [ But she doesn't look annoyed or anything. In fact, she looks like she's pondering something instead. ]

Maybe I should be that one instead... somehow.

b!

[agitato]

Hey, you! What do you think you're doing?!

[ Of course, she's talking about the cucumbers, thinking he was planning on eating them himself rather than using them as bait. Still, if she were to find out that much, that'd be another thing to shriek about — but first. Priorities. ]

That's. . . [ Teeth grit, prepare for full volume… ] That's the vegetable garden that I was assigned to protect! Get away from it, or I'll seriously get mad!

[ Like she isn't already. In any case, her allowing herself to fail a mission? Please. There might, just might be a fire spirit heading Gareki's way right about now as well. ]

2!!

[agitato]

[ Guess who's just recently turned in a mission herself, and is just wandering around? For a moment Airi considers walking off and past her, but huh, that looked like a script, didn't it?

Really, she doesn't mean to sound so abrasive — but the words somehow just come out that way. ]

… Are you even trying?

[agitato]

Look. [ She extends an open hand in front of her. ] Pass me the script and you'll see what I mean!

[ This can only end well; replace well with horribly. ]

[He listens attentively to her explanation, perhaps with an expression and disposition that's far too serious for someone who bears the face of a teenager. From her explanation alone, he's tempted to turn around and leave. There's no way he will reduce himself to a bard if all he's ever going to do is sing. He's a Gundam Meister and while he's not trained specifically in any martial art style, he can fight a lot better than a normal person. There's no way he'll waste all his training to sing. Not to mention, what can singing do anyway? Scare away monsters?

However, none of those thoughts make it out to the conversation at hand as he reply the girl.] I'm undecided as of now. It seems we're not allowed to change guild once we joined one. I intend to check every guilds before making decision.

How long have you been in this guild? What's the quality of the instructors?

[agitato]

[ Taking it, she begins reading where Alyona started without reading the lines in advance.

but first, a breath — then: ]

Darling, I've become a star! [ So far so good, she manages to deliver the line without an ounce of passion missing!! ] So please, I hope you'll continue being by my s-side… Forever until now…? Wi, without your support and lo, lo, lo…

[agitato]

[ … ] —ve. I would've never gotten this far?!

Grr... What the heck is this?! This — this writing…! It's awful!

[ Are you sure it's not just you, Airi. ]

[Give him a second, the silent laugh will clue him in. Lightbulb!

The fact that he laughs at all simply encourages Dio to keep doing his thing, i.e. leaning down like he has a Great Secret to share, discreetly.]

If it helps, I'll be rooting for you. [Thumbs up!! Is he inspiring yet...]

[agitato]

… What? Couldn't you tell? I totally it messed up!

[ So she's not allowed to say that?! ]

And jeez! Anyone could do a dramatic reading of dialogue, being able to do this much doesn't make you a performer at all! It's not that simple!

[assiduous]

[ mako looks at dave appraisingly, hands still in his pockets with a completely unironic air of detached but uncaring compliance, before sighing again, and shuffing his fingers through his hair. ]

Just so long as nothing gets smashed, alright? I still wanna get paid when this is over.

[ it's clear he just thinks he's humoring dave, but don't you forget he's here to work.

that isn't to say he won't play along, though. mako's warm up consists of cracking each individual knuckle, then, palms out and fingers laced together, his shoulders, arms swinging up over his head with practiced ease and audible pops. the usefulness of such a technique is debatable, but damn if it doesn't feel nice.

it also hopefully looks kind of intimidating, an considering how bored mako looks... ]

Were you even paying attention? I stumbled!

But what didn't you get about it, anyway?

[His pockets are empty, whatever he carries more concealed than something a pickpocket could thieve. Or else tucked and buried deeply enough. Isn't this the Thieves Guild? It's common sense.

He does close his fingers around Yoh's wrist and grip it, extracting his hand. He's a ninja dude.....]

You don't seem distracted.

[That was loud enough to get his attention. Itachi cants his head, the most movement he's made in at least ten minutes.]

Have you eaten?

If that's what you want.

[ of course it's quiet, if it wasn't then that'd be a problem, wouldn't it? Rather, it isn't like it's too quiet because that'd be a problem too. ]

I'm sure they taste like normal cucumbers too. [ not like he had one earlier to eat or anything... ]

[Hold back? Never. For practice to be truly beneficial, it must have a sense of the danger and desperation in real combat.

His eyes remain fixed on her as she moves into position, his own face betraying nothing. When she starts forward, he growls and swings his spear's arced tip towards her blade's edge; the two metals clash with a harsh shriek.

She's faster than he is, and he finds himself without room to use his weapon as it's meant to be used. Instead his grip is wide, the wooden shaft acting as his shield and a means to trip. With a grunt, he dashes the spear towards her ankles; if she does not stumble, perhaps at least she will retreat and let him regain his advantage.]

[tsunderekun]

[Anyone can fake an ID nowadays!! It proves nothing!]

Oh, I wouldn't ever have to worry about that.

[Gareki smirks at the other boy, looking as arrogant as ever.]

They'd have to be a really good thief in order to steal anything from me.

[tsunderekun]

[Oowww... Airi, you might have damaged his eardrums a little there.]

Could you yell any louder?

[But that sarcastic comment might egg her on even further. Not a very smart idea. Nope.]

You're going to scare the animals away with all of your screeching.

[AND YOU'LL RUIN HIS PLANS TOO.

That fire spirit would cause him some major problems if it ends up hitting him. Gareki is not going out of commission yet. Despite trying to steal some vegetables, he does plan on getting paid for the work that he's already done! His reflexes are quick enough to allow him to dodge it. But of course that's not going to go without a bit of yelling from his side.

Now he's probably scaring the animals away.]

What the hell do you think you're doing?!

[incline]

Hmm...

[Is that right? This guy seems intimidating, but something about him feels strange... As if he's not completely scary. It's a familiar feeling, but he can't pinpoint why yet.]

Even so, the idea is there! If it ever happens to you, I'm sure that you'll be upset as well. That's why you shouldn't...

[Nuri would continue, but he already noticed that Gareki only stole one. Considering what he planned originally, and how much he wanted to steal beforehand, one is immensely tame. That's why Nuri is proud of him and his decision, instantly earning a smile of admiration.]

You're a good person, after all! I'll reward you with food in a bit. I'll be back as quick as I can, okay?

[Without even waiting for a reaction, Nuri turns and runs. The intent clear, as he is now off to buy food for the two of them as said earlier.]

[ well, there's no saying hirato can't help him with the basics a bit... he has a habit of playing a mentor role at times.

whoa little guy!!! what an enthusiastic kid, but it strikes him as odd that he doesn't respond verbally. however, hirato doesn't let that show on his face. ]

As it is, I happen to be lacking in companions right now. [ as much as he crazyloves his buddies from home he kind of needs a break from them at times ] If it pleases you, I would be delighted to join forces for a bit.

[tophat]

[ oooh, this guy here... he's so much like the typical person hirato might be assigned to guard back home, at least at first glance. doesn't want to get his hands dirty at all. probably the type who'll try getting other people to do the dirty work for him while he sits back.

but perhaps he's jumping to conclusions. though hirato knows these types well, he also knows that you should never rely on first impressions to completely sum a person up. that's the kind of attitude that'll get you killed or just plain messed up. ]

Oh, no. Of course not, your highness.

[ in fact, an idea to make things even more fun comes to him then. with a few steps, he approaches colress only to reach out to clasp his hand as if he's a dainty lady of some court. ] Rest assured that I would not be able to sleep if I were to let your hands become dirtied.

And I'm relieved by that. [ just kidding, he doesn't care all that much about how people see him. not deep down. the smile he gives in return, however, seems genuine enough.

not fully so, but he rarely smiles with his whole being. or so to speak. ]

Something like that, but I can't recall ever being ordered to guard cucumbers before.

I don't remember insulting anyone. [ Weird doesn't mean bad after aaaall! And Christmas Trees are pretty, feel flattered, Chloe. Otherwise, he's giving her an incredulous look.

... She seems familiar, but nothing seems to ring a bell at all. ]

I only wanted an opinion anyway.
