TEST DRIVE MEME

So first of all, welcome to Dyspros' very first test drive meme! We're happy that you're interested in the game, and we hope that you have some fun playing with the setting, regardless of whether you decide to join or not.

As a general reminder, we recommend that you look over the game information before jumping in. In addition, if you decide you're ready to join, you're welcome to put in a reserve, and applications will open on May 4th at 12:01 AM (EST). Finally, if you have any questions or concerns, please send us a message!

So now, without further ado, let's get to playing:

A ; NEW RECRUIT

Well then, welcome to the guild, Initiate! After some thought (or maybe the choice was obvious), you've finally settled on a guild, and you're ready to get started. You're welcome to check out your accommodations and see what kind of people you'll be living with for the foreseeable future. This is your home now, so hopefully you get alone with them. If not, then you can just spend all of your time sharpening your skills!

Whether you're just claiming your bed or you're jumping right into the thick of things to practice or sign up for a mission, a new recruit is unlikely to go unnoticed.

B ; MISSION TIME

It's your first mission, which is pretty exciting, right? You have all these pictures in your head of going off to fight a dragon, to come home with great riches and valor...

Too bad those missions are for the higher ups.

No, it's the middle of the night, and you're out guarding the small fields just outside of town from wild animals. Right now you're standing by the cucumbers, which are considered especially important to guard, for some reason. You have to fight off sleepiness somehow, so maybe an animal will come out for you to scare off, or maybe you'll just end up chatting with whoever is stuck doing this with you.

Or you know, if you're a dick, you'll steal the vegetables for yourself.

C ; STORM THE CASTLE

Okay, the missions for initiates are pretty lame, and you're ready for some real fighting. You can go alone, or you can go with some other people, but it's off to Castle Dyspros! You'll find a variety of creatures to fight, and the power of teamwork will help you make progress through the castle!

Or you'll die. There's that too. Good thing it's fairly inconsequential, if weird!

Either way, have fun fighting to your heart's content!

[What can I say? I just can't escape from our roots.

This must have been how Dio felt when Mahmut didn't know what a pilot was. He is going to assume he means the plant though, because who doesn't know what a farm is? It's pretty much the basic of the basic.]

They're cucumbers. You've never had one before? They make good appetizers.

[So culturally enriching. I feel like a millionaire.]

[ Chloe stares at the strange outfit and then looks down at all those numbers on the price tag.

Well then.

She blinks and then looks back up at him. ]

Did you want it? [ a pause. ] It would look weird on you.

[ She's just going to pretend she doesn't know you and that you got the wrong person for kicks-- ]

Who?

[assiduous]

[ mako dodges again, ducking just out of the way in the last second, then feinting with a quick left cross, aiming to miss. ]

[beat]

[ He's not quite sure if he's trying really hard to capture the role of the Berserker, or he's just missing his sword(s), horribly.

Either way, as his right arm goes down in a miss, Dave does his best to utilize his remaining body parts by bending to his right side slightly, and swinging his left leg in an effort to trip Mako. ]

[agitato]

Yeah, well —

[ Okay, so that might've not been the best idea, huh. . . Maybe ice would've been a better idea? Alas, it was a little too late for that. ]

Excuse me? You're the one who's desecrating the garden! It makes sense for me to try and get rid of you, ri—

[ . . . Wait. ]

[agitato]

Are you really supposed to be my team mate for this?

[ She might be looking just a little guilty at this point. Maybe he had grabbed the cucumbers back from whoever was trying to steal them in the first place…? ]

[Unless bird boy has a deep and passionate attachment to vegetation then, no, this vague "what kind of loser doesn't know what a cucumber is" feeling is like ten thousand leagues below the knife in Dio's heart that is "what is a pilot." JUST SAYING. Cucumber boy. Cabbage patch kid.

Alright. Vegetables. Dio gives them a look.]

She swipes his hand away! ]

not previously aware that asami was, in fact, on cucumber duty tonight — or that there even was a proper cucumber duty — mako looks over at the sound of his name, a small smile popping onto his face at the sight of asami

distracted, however, mako loses focus on his little spirit fire. reasonable, really, because he doesn't ususally need to focus this much on just a lantern's worth of fire. unfortunate, however, as it means the fire jumps from its safe little pocket of not mako's skin in the air to... ]

[assiduous]

[ the skin of mako's palm

three: mako swears (shit), because he still isn't used to being this flammable, and shakes the fire off with a somewhat frantic — but not panicked, mind you — flick of his hand.

ow. ]

[ SORRY ASAMI DID YOU SAY SOMETHING?

sheepish, and still shaking his fingers slightly, mako tries again. ]

Hi.

[ he's better than that normally. promise.

kinda. ]

[Wait, what is that supposed to mean? Is he just here for fun? Looking at his career options? Is he being smart with her? None of her possibilities hit the nail on the head. She's as confused as she looks.]

Oh. Are you lost? Maybe I can help.

[Of all the possible scenarios, it's as probable as any. At least this one makes her seem like a decent person for offering assistance, just in case he's actually an important figure in this station and she just can't tell the difference.

Well, judging strictly by his appearance, that aspect seems actually the least probable.]

[There's a young boy practicing with his blade on the grounds today, swinging the sword with haphazard slashes and thrusts. From the look of it, it's clear as day that he hasn't had any formal training - while he does seem to have a certain amount of strength and endurance to keep up the pace, he also appears to have been self-taught, and clumsily at that. He's expending much more energy than needed with each attack.

Which is... especially odd, considering his sword certainly couldn't have come from the guild itself, particularly considering his age. Not only is it a real sword rather than a mere practice one, it is fairly unique in appearance, especially if one notes the three gemstones set into the hilt - with space to spare for two more, judging by the indentations. Where could he have obtained that...?

At any rate, he finally pauses for a break, flumping onto the ground with his legs crossed as he catches his breath.]

Ugh... It's a lot tougher when it doesn't move on its own, huh?

[D]

[Hey look, it's a kid doing some shopping in Tinwick! He's got a small list of items that he's consulting as he walks, although he also keeps stopping quite frequently whenever a certain shop catches his eye.]

A magic store... I wonder if those are normal here? They didn't even have those in Vision.

[The thought makes him grin. Vision had been a lot like an RPG already - but this place really takes the cake!]

[Oof. Asami saw that. She boldly dares to inch away from her post so that she can catch a glimpse of his hand in the moonlight, not that it helps. All she can see is the shadow of his skin.

Annnd since Mako's hand is more important than pastries, maybe, she restarts with another greeting:]

[ they are the coolest alright. he flashes her a thumbs up before returning his hand to the ground. ]

Definitely. Probably. We were supposed to be here, after all.

[ he can't see why people would want them to stand around being cool in a place where nobody would notice or anything. that kind of defeated the purpose. ]

Let's just hope they show up before our arms give out.

[ he's already starting to rethink this. ]

Yeah, it's fine. Just surprised me. [ ... mako does that mean this sort of thing has been happening a lot as you learn your mage tricks? (maybe you should try a different element, honey.) ]

What're you doing out here so late?

[Asami nods back at the veggie field.]

Cucumber watch. It's been part of my punishment for that thing that I did... [AHERMHERM] What about you?

[more enthusiastic nodding! oh wow, this is really cool! someone picked him! --

wait. he stops for a moment, looking worried. this isn't a joke, is it? because that's happened before. people think it's funny to pick on him. so that sudden excitement has changed to worry as he grips his sword.]

[tophat]

[ he's old and very harmless!! which is why it is most definitely a great idea to reveal all of one's personal little secrets to him. yes, yes... tell this completely docile old fart everything... ]

I'm thinking it wasn't. [ says the guy who pulls all-nighters regularly ]
